Not for much more than web browsing

Travis, Amazon

  • Summary: Bought this for my wife. We ended up sending it back because the operating system was garbage. It would be good for people who don't use it for much, but it just wasn't sufficient for us.

Avoid this computer

Andrew MacLeod, Amazon
1 August 2014
  • Summary: Piece of junk. All I need my computer for is reading the news, checking email, and watching the occasional YouTube. This thing has been dirt slow from day one. Takes forever to load up Chrome sometimes and it has a real problem closing iTunes. And this isn't to mention the disaster that is Windows 8. Oh, and almost a year into owning it and the sound no longer works. I'd never recommend it.

Don't waste the little money this thing costs... Not a good product at all

Adward Blinder "compassionate conservative", Amazon

  • Summary: I guess I should have known this going in, but this thing is really annoying to use... Everything from the mouse pad being small and clumsy, to the slow loading. You pretty much get what you pay for. Only giving 2 stars because I really should have known some of this going in...

At least it is functional now

Stanley R Pontiere, Amazon
23 July 2013
  • Summary: Of course, I am like almost everyone else-I have already learned to hate Win 8. Tiles may be okay on a tablet but on a work machine, they are a pain. Fortunately, you can get free traditional start menu programs (Just Google "Start Menu for Win 8) which are far easier to work with. As for the computer itself-boot is slow along with slow loading programs. Probably another Win 8 problem-simply too much resources dedicated to the painful tablet style interface.

No thanks

Samilly "samiam", Amazon
29 June 2013
  • Summary: I read many of the reviews on this computer before buying, I also watched videos on YouTube. Despite all of the negatives I read, I decided to take a chance anyway. It was a mistake. I quickly discovered that this was just NOT the computer for me. I do agree with all of the Windows 8 comments. But beside that, I was not impressed with the touch pad....worst I've ever used out of any laptop.

Worst computer I have ever owned.

Johnny E. Bryant, Amazon
22 April 2013
  • Summary: Like so many others I don't know if it is Windows 8 or the computer, but I am constantly unable to get to the Internet when all of our other laptops and desktops can. It is horribly slow to boot up. I am at the point of trying to put Windows 7 on it. Very disappointed in it.

User Review

moonfireangel, Walmart

  • Summary: I purchased my Acer 11/20012 and I really reviewed the Acer ahead of time and was impressed with memory space, processor speed, and all the goodies included in a small lightweight laptop and it looked great on paper. When I got home and unpacked it and set it up the disappointment started. Windows 8 takes up so much space and would be ideal for a beginner to the internet and computers but is a waste and a pain on this laptop.

Not DOA but on full life support

Ray King, Amazon
29 January 2013
  • Summary: I bought this for a friend whose key requirement was portability, not performance. Even with performance in the back seat, I elected to go with a Celeron based machine as I was concerned an Atom based one lacked the minimum horsepower to make a user happy. The computer showed up with the usual prompt Amazon delivery and seemed in good condition on arrival. That's the last of the "good" statements you'll see.
