Summary: This is the slowest, most unresponsive, trash-laden "computer" I have ever owned. Constantly shuts down wireless card, won't even re-start - you need to hard boot it. Takes ages to start back up. My first-gen android phone is faster...and more reliable. Windows 8 is terrible too. Spend the extra couple dollars and get an Asus w/XP. I've owned both and the Asus was twice the machine.
Summary: I bought this laptop thinking I would have a viable option to use at work and bring with me on the road. It seemed to have enough processor and memory to use on a daily basis but be small enough to be easily portable. I have a large monitor at the office so planned to use the monitor I have with this laptop. The price was right. Big mistake. I should have spent another $100 or $150 for a more useful item.
Summary: I wish I could have rated this zero stars but on Amazon you can only rate 1. The trackpad sucks so badly that I never use it and always carry an external mouse. The screen sucks too because it's reflective so unless you have perfect lighting it's hard to see. There is this stupid program it runs called read HD audio or some s*** that takes up CPU and if you stop it the headphone jack won't work. So either you have a slow computer or no headphones.
Summary: After having the laptop for less than one week it started giving problems. It automatically turns off and i have to reboot it for it to do the same thing again. This was a great disappointment as i have never experienced such an incident with a new laptop.
Summary: Like you, I wanted to upgrade my laptop to something more portable. As a cheap and broke blogger, this option seemed like a good idea, and the good reviews convinced me that the bad revies were outliers. This had more computing strength than my farty old, 2009 Apple Macbookpro that needed had a melted HD. Great HD size, etc. I mean, I was thinking all the same rosy things about this POS that you are. I also got a job that needed windows, so I jumped for this.
Summary: Let me start off by saying that I had high hopes for this little machine. I understood from the beginning that the computer's specs reflect the cost, so I expected there to be some quirks. This is my first Windows 8 machine, so there was a slight learning curve but I had it down in under a day. Aside from the awkward setup that Windows 8 is based on, this machine is SLOW, WEAK and DIES quickly. This Acer Aspire One wishes it could hang, but it just cant.
