Summary: I needed a laptop that still lets you play Cd's which is how I settled on this particular model. That and the ratings. This is my fourth laptop in 19 years and I was hesitant on getting a less-than-well-know brand. I have had mine a few weeks now and have no complaints other than a minor one-The touch pad is left of center which I find strange. Good for lefties, I guess. It doesn't come with a bunch of junk software. The McAfee trial is pointless.
Summary: If you are looking for a easy to set up and easy to use than this is the one to get. I got a brand new one so I did not have any problums with it starting or the battery not changing up. I check a lot of diffrent models and is was the best one at a geat price.
Summary: This laptop arrived with a defective touchpad and several hours worth of troubleshooting revealed hardware issues requiring a return for repair; however, acer refused to authorize a pickup, insisting that I drive 30 miles to the nearest fedex office ("we can't be responsible for where you choose to live") and refusing to mail a return label, saying their policy only allows email. Let's see--computer doesn't work so they will email a label I can't print.
Summary: I am very happy with my Acer. Nice screen resolution, stays cool after running for several hours, light weight, love that it comes with Windows 7. It would have been perfect if it came with Microsoft office as well, but it does not.
Summary: I really love Windows 7 and purchased this laptop for this reason. When I received it the battery showed 55% and charging which it never did. Every week it would be a lower amount. I have never used it without being plugged in. I wrote the company several weeks ago and no response and it was still within the warranty period. I would give them an F for customer service. I like the laptop but what good is it if you can't take it on the go.....
