RIP C710 Chromebook

CeliaAnne, Amazon
11 December 2014
  • Summary: This is barely a year old and is dead. The Chromebook won't charge. A quick internet search shows a lot of people with dead C710 Acer Chromebooks. Acer is not offering any solutions for this problem. I will not be buying from them again.

Lasted only a few months

CAROL F., Newegg
22 October 2014
  • Summary: I will never buy another refurbished laptop again. You definitely get what you pay for. :(
  • Pros: When it worked, it boosted fast and worked well.
  • Cons: It hardly ever loaded. The screen would never turn on even after numerous times of trying to power it down.

  • Summary: I would not buy this computer because it to small and to slow when you try do anything on it. You have to shut it down and start over again to surf the web for it to go fast and then it will start to go slow again. So no I would not recommend this to anyone.

chrome is missing

Anonymous, Newegg
4 July 2014
  • Summary: after the holiday I'll see if support can do anything to help me find the image file manually.
  • Pros: So cheap... It's ridiculous after rebate.
  • Cons: If anyone knows how to get to the specific parrot chrome os image , I would be grateful. I need a flash drive recognize able by the chrome is recovery utility. Even though a refurb, this does not increase my confidence in newegg. I mean, no os shows they didn't even try.

Roll the dice and see what you get

Michael M., Newegg
30 May 2014
  • Summary: Probably would not buy an Acer refurb again. A brand new one would have been the way to go. I should have returned it, but wanted to play with it so I guess I will keep it.
  • Pros: Nice little computer if it works. Very upgradable model as opposed to the C720. Intel processor.
  • Cons: Did not boot up. I had to spend several hours figuring out how to make a recovery USB stick as whoever refurbed the machine, did not put an OS on it. Also, used would be the word I would use to describe the condition. Most refurbs look practically new, this did not. The top was scratched up and t...

Save your money

Dariusz T., Newegg
29 May 2014
  • Summary: Really? Internal speakers are pretty bad on these, 2gb of memory and slow processor. I'd take a beat up samsung 303 over this for a few bucks more any day
  • Pros: Price, upgradable memory, upgradable hard drive, upgradable OS
  • Cons: Flimsy, glossy screen, poor speakers, noisy fan, heavy, poor battery life

Not a helpful device

alaskamom, Amazon
9 April 2014
  • Summary: I bought this because I am taking courses online with my local university. This is not compatible with the programs they use. I don't use it much because I have no other reason to. I have mobile internet on my phone

Not as advertised

Todd C., Newegg
2 April 2014
  • Summary: The Chromebook itself is just fine, but I specifically sought out this refurb BECAUSE of the 320GB HDD, not the near-useless 16GB SSD. Because it's a refurb there's no RMA on it. I shouldn't have to return the entire laptop just to get the right hard drive that was advertised.
  • Pros: An Acer C710 Chromebook, easily one of the most popular Chromebooks for a reason.
  • Cons: Incorrect title, is NOT the version with the 320GB HDD.

  • Summary: There was no users manual. New Chromebooks come with 2 yrs of free Google Drive Cloud storeage. If those are not avail, you should make that clear during purchase. Truth in advertising. Computer appears to work as advertised. Paid for expedited shipping, arrived 1 day late.
