Summary: I was not aware of the difference between google chrome and microsoft operating system. I am so used to using the right click, which I cannot use with google chrome. the other very important point is that it is not compatible with microsoft office. I guess I will have to install ubuntu, then use a third party program and install ms-office. This is not what I had in mind when I bought it.
Summary: I have been using my chrome for about 2 months now, and unfortunately, I'm unimpressed. I returned to school, and wanted something simple to type papers on. It's my own fault for not doing my research, but I just assumed chrome would support MS Word (it doesn't). It has Google documents, but anyone who has ever been to school knows MS Word is absolutely necessary.
Summary: If you live in a house with young children forget about this chromebook. The Plasma screen can not take being jostled around and within 6 months my husbands chromebook has a white box in the upper left corner, green, blue and red lines down the screen, as well as black splotches all over the screen. Meanwhile my two year old Toshiba has been dropped off the couch numerous times as well as stepped on....and jumped off and the screen is still picture perfect.
Summary: well i have had it for a few months now . And it freezes up now almost all the time takes a long time to load sometimes. I have notice that this thing will last for a few more months. It is very hard to transfer music or ring tones on to a phone. oh and you can`t get itunes on here or download a lot of other stuff. on the bright side it has netflix.
Summary: Screen goes out constantly. i've had this little chromebook for less than four hours. I've been able to play around on it for only one of those before it starting shutting down and blinking out constantly. i thought maybe it was an extension issue but no. Even in guest mode it wouldn't stay on. Returning first thing in the morning and saving my money for a mac air.
Summary: My daughter, who is in college, had a difficult time trying to upload and download the necessary programs to do and complete her college assignments. I thought this was a standard laptop or netbook. I thought it would have been compatible with basic student software. Ughh! The many phone calls to assist her. It has a lot of features that are nice to her . But when its time to do actual work that matters to her.....no go!!
Summary: I purchased the Acer C7 Chromebook in Jan. It has been reliable as far as hardware goes but it is almost impossible to do any real work with it. It does feel very cheaply built, I would say build quality is a step up from a child's toy. Battery life is pretty short as well. Email, internet browsing, youtube work fine with it but that's pretty much it. Offline it really is useless.
Chromebook doesn't need a large drive; get a cheaper Acer C7 variant instead

Summary: This $300 Chromebook is the same as the $280 Acer C710-2055, but with a 500 GB drive instead of 320 GB. Bear in mind that on a Chromebook, the internal storage is effectively your Downloads folder. I think 320 GB is already too much for a Chromebook, and wish there was an Acer C7 with a fast and silent 16GB SSD instead. If you really need storage get an external drive; it's $80 for a TB these days.
