Summary: I wanted to be able to play and digitize Blu-Ray movies. On receiving the notebook, I put it to the test. The optical Blu-Ray drive out-of-the-box hung up, stuttered and sputtered--it was defective.
Cons: Acer quality support is horrible. Contacting Acer is insanely difficult to do, and filing an RMA is just as difficult. Summary: The only drives that I know of that do not shroud the SATA connector with the drive body are Seagates. This was truly bone-headed design on Acer's part.
Pros: Thin and pretty light.
Cons: The chassis design prohibits any hard disk/SSD that has a shrouded SATA connector! I bought this with an Intel 128GB SSD that I cannot use because of the rubber motherboard support that interferes with the drive body that surrounds the SATA connector.
Summary: Was really happy with this Laptop till it was 14 months old and Hard Drive failed,lost all my work and photos and Acer Customer Service was not intrested as it was 2 months out of warranty.I had hard drive replaced at my expense and offered to send faulty hard drive to them for analysis-they wanted...
