Summary: I've had my Acer Aspire for almost two years, and it's not that great. I enjoy playing games and watching stuff on Hulu/Netflix, and my Acer overheats extremely fast. Even with the most expensive cooling mat, it still managed to overheat. If I had to do over, I would have bought something else.
Summary: For the money, this is a good all around laptop. But there are a two MAJOR flaws. The first is Sound Quality. The Sound Quality is pretty terrible. Any type of outside noise will impede your ability to hear what you are listening to. Even with the sound at full blast. This is definitely not ideal if you are using this for multimedia purposes. The Sound Quality is just bad.
Summary: Opening the machine I was thrilled and continued through the set up process. Then came the production of the back-up dvds. The carrier swallowed the dvd and would not regurgitate it. Fine all companies have failures, most have a support helpline. Acer may have such a thing but charges you for contacting them; i.e you pay for their failure. So instead of trying to rectify the fault with their advice the machine was returned for credit and another make will be purchased.
Summary: I purchased the Acer to replace a very much more expensive Dell XPS laptop that at nearly four years old had become a little unreliable. I decided to aim for more of a budget model as with the Dell failing after less than four years and costing over £700 I thought on a per annum basis this was a little costly. After quite a bit of looking around and knowing my daughter had one I decided the Acer fitted the bill.
Summary: The sound card completely failed after two weeks. All sound is only high pitched hissing and crackling. Problems persist under all programs and operating systems and through headphones (so not the speakers). The computer works fine otherwise. This could be a design fault or maybe I was just unlucky. Will try for replacement.
Summary: I was really looking forward to this laptop after needing an upgrading on my old Acer for a while. The spec and reviews convinced me this was the one. Took me a day to find that something just wasn't right. Loaded Norton ran it then got online seemed a little slow but carried on. Downloaded Itunes again seemed alot slower than i' expected due to the spec, i5 5gb mmm? It got there in the end so started to sync my iphone.....
Summary: I'm returning this laptop today. I was quite happy at first but after just 30 minutes, my opinions on it kinda fell apart. Hopefully it's just an issue specific to this particular acer but I'm not taking any risks so I'll be getting something else. Good points: -Easy and quick start up. -Amazing keyboard: The keys feel like they are floating when you type.
Summary: Amazon, as usual fulfilled the order very promptly. However, I am really disappointed with this laptop which arrived today. I bought it to replace a 5 year old Toshiba Equium. However, this Acer laptop has got a woeful wireless card in it - Connecting to our wireless router, the Equium can acheive 4 out of 5 bars on the wireless signal strength, whilst the Aspire can only get 2 out of 5!
Summary: I bought this and have to say not too bad a laptop. clear screen poor sound as only one speaker. my concern is my hard drive broke after 2 months, and acer customer services are poor if anything goes wrong! Just something to take into consideration when buying an Acer.
