Laptop Review: Acer Aspire 5742G

HardwareCentral
9 December 2010
  • Conclusion: For optical storage, the unit has an 8x DVD drive that supports reading and writing to all platter formats, including double-layer discs. The memory-card reader in the unit is less versatile, though. It can only read MMC and SD cards. Battery life is adequate, but not exceptional. The Acer's six-cell, 4400mAh lithium-ion pack repeatedly lasted just over three hours in our real-world tests. Our review unit came with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium.
