Summary: Pretty good price on this. I like the numerical keypad. Lots of storage on this. Some faults are a slower processor and dirt and dust get stuck between the keys easily, and it's hard to clean out. All in all its a handy computer and I'd recommend it for anyone who isn't too serious about technology. It's a good basic computer that does what you need it to and it's reliable. A lot of people give Acer crap but that's just because they're looking down their nose at it.
Summary: I have another Acer, this one is a little slow and the annoying pop ups from McAfee are so frustrating. It seems slow most of the time, I'm not sure what it is...weird. I bought it for my husband to do homework so I guess it serves it's purpose.
Summary: Love shopping from Amazon, Have never had any problems Bought Acer Aspire AS5250-0639 15.5" Laptop (1.65 GHz AMD Dual-Core Processor E-450, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, DVD+/-RW Optical Drive, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) Very nice computer but it doesn't have a HMDI output, it came from Adorama...Do not shop from them. Had computer 1 week, was still in original box, Adorama refused return stuck with a $400 computer we aren't using.
Summary: We surprised our soon-to-be teenager with this for Christmas. Was easy to get her up and running. Once, about a week after Christmas, it wouldn't shut down so I popped out the battery and when I replaced it everthing was fine. Yesterday morning it ran a Windows Automatic Startup Repair.. and it's been fine since. I was nervous on both occations since this is a very inexpensive machine.. but it seems to be doing okay. She loves it.
Summary: I purchased this baby for $278. Like so many of the other reviews the wireless was really weak. After doing some investigating I downloaded the updated driver for the wireless and Bios. After doing that I have a sweet computer. Wireless works great and I boosted the memory up to 8Gig which gave me a slight performance upgrade. Be aware that this computer is designed for Windows 7. You will run into trouble running Linux or any derivative. All in all I got a good deal.
Summary: Bought this laptop on sale for $299 @ Staples. Two of the three USB ports don't work on my machine. I have to return the system now (Acer pays shipping), and they advised me that it would take 7 to 10 business days to replace the item. They must have a huge backlog of systems with issues for it to take that long. Or they are severly understaffed. I am happy with the system itself. I got it for a great price, and it is more than enough horsepower for my needs.
Summary: * Buy this because it's affordable. * If you don't require the small size of a tablet, this is a good choice. Think of it as "laptop meets netbook". * I have had this for about 6 months now.....hasn't crashed. I just came back from an 8 day vacation with it in my tail bag on my motorcycle. No problems. * As it has been stated......go get a USB wifi adaptor and use it instead of the onboard one. $40 or less. You will be happier.
