Summary: Have had this laptop since early 2009. On the positive side the processor is good, and still better in terms of GHz than some of the PCs around today at 300 pounds-ish. On the negative side, there are major issues with the fan, and since the early days of buying it, it overheated. It's impossible to use on the lap. Even off-lap it overheats, and you need an external fan. Another issue is the cabling which is in the laptop hinge.
Summary: I've had this laptop for nearly 2 years now, not a piece of machinary but there is one big problem: overheating! It takes minutes for it to start overheating, particularly when watching a video or listening to music. The only way it seems to stay cool is by using a USB fan to cool down. Still its served me well and I'm still using it!
Summary: Bought this laptop in May 2009 & have had nothing but problems from the start. Now, lwss than 2 years latter it has packed up completely. Have done some research on the internet & it appears that it is a fairly common problem with Acer's. I wish I had done this before buying. I have had to dig out my old Dell laptop, which although it's slow, still works.
Summary: First off great spec for a great price, problems with HD playback and overheating after a couple of months and issues with the HDMI output, seemed to struggle. Main issue after only a year the thing began to first of all, not charge, only working when plugged in, then after a while it began not booting at all with the power light flashing intermittently.
Summary: I bought this laptop June 2009 and the motherboard overheated June 2010 (only one year!) even though I kept it well ventilated. Luckily it was just still just inside the warranty period so Acer replaced the motherboard though it took them about a month! When I got it back, a couple of weeks later it overheated again and this time since I was outside the warranty period Acer tried to charge me £160-ish even though I was told it was under a 3 months warranty from date of...
Excerpt: After buying this product i was overly excited as it was a great peice of kit and was £550, which in my opinion is very good value for money. All the specs were exactly what i wanted as i needed a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. It was so good that i got one for my partner as well. The laptop ran like a dream and did everything i wanted it to do, well it did for 10 months. After that time I started to notice power errors within the laptop.
Pros: Good speed, nice looking, great peice of kit
Summary: After having this laptop for 3 months I felt there are a couple of things you should know. Its quick enough for me but then I am not a gamer. The screen is bright, in fact its excellent. Vista works ok...I dont see what all the trouble is about to be honest. The webcam is brilliant; the best I have used so far. The fingerprint reader is just a novelty. It works most of the time but you may as well just type in a password as its far easier.
Summary: The product itself seems perfectly fine (I can't go into detail as I haven't had it for long enough to tell). However be warned this laptop ships with a lot of junk programs which will not help its performance (as mentioned in a previous review) and reinstalling the provided windows vista which is the only one the product key will work for will not remove it. I was researching the ways I could reinstall vista to no avail.
