Secondhand Laptop Acer Aspire 5920G

Mr. PG Outhwaite, Amazon
10 September 2013
  • Summary: This laptop for its price gives a very good video and sound system performance for those wishing to run multimedia films and music from a laptop. The 5.1 dolby theatre sound outputs very well and when the graphics add to the package it proves a very good second hand purchase. Some of these units originally came with a blue ray player so watching movies on the go is also a very worthwhile experience but be mindful of the limited battery life unless you keep a spare 5200mW...

Good notebook computer, average RAM, decent CPU, slow hard disk, expresscard 54 for extra ports, etc

  • Excerpt: I got this a few years ago with pre-installed 32bit Windows Vista, and a slightly older version of BIOS. It came with the onboard intel shared graphics, which I don't particularly like. There's an option to get an nVidia Gefore 8600M GT graphics card upto 512MB, but I haven't found any reviews to suggest that to be a huge improvement to the graphics, although I imagine it'd be a lot better than the onboard shared one I got.

  • Excerpt: This is my computer that I'm currently typing this review with, I've had it for about 4 years and so far hasn't let me down. I bought the computer £400 and it has a 250GB hard drive and an intel core 2 duo processor. The laptop has a white fronted keypad and a 15 inch screen, the laptop has a power button in the middle of the laptop.

A cracking laptop at a reasonable price

  • Excerpt: Having never had a laptop before I was apprehensive and confused about what machine to purchase when I went away to university. Having recently graduated with my laptop still in one piece, I can only say that my Acer has been a success in durability and reliability. Although not the lightest or as aesthetically pleasing as a Mac, the spec on the Acer is excellent value for money.

  • Excerpt: Have had this laptop for a couple of years and has definitely been abused, thrown about the room and overused but still works well. Has a lovely big screen and is quite fast even with lots of space on memory taken up. Has a good webcam and all the pros of Windows Vista. Have never had any major problems. The battery originally lasted for over two hours although now lasts just under an hour when unplugged, which is longer than many other batteries once used.

  • Excerpt: "...price of my previous laptop. Acer has a good reputation, or so I'm told, and this was another important factor. When I received the laptop I was very impressed with how it looked. To be honest I really wanted a purple laptop from Dell, but couldn't justify the extra price. However, the black surface is smart, smooth and sleek, and the greyish-white keyboard and screen area looks a lot nicer than you might think. It is a lot lighter than my previous ...

  • Excerpt: I have been using the Acer Aspire 5920 for over 2 years now and have found it to be a very reliable and versatile machine. Aesthetically it may not be to everyone's taste and I do believe that when it came out the stylish shiny black outer shell with the cream inner shell was slated, however I love the look!

Great Laptop but a few minor flaws.

  • Excerpt: "The acer aspire laptop is the first laptop i've ever bought and i would never go back to a regular desktop. The internet connection is fast, and the fact that i don't have to be sat at a desk to go on the computer is a fantastic bonus. However, use this laptop too long and it over heats quite dramatically and you find your legs practically scalded! Another minor flaw is the battery time, you can charge your laptop up and it will tell you it has full ...
