Summary: Unfortunately we have three of these things in our family. All three have been back to our local agent for various repairs. My biggest gripe is the time it takes for the things to boot up and the process speed. Very very very slooooooooooow. The wireless network is very poor, even with the router within half a meter I am now trying to reboot for the third time to try and get connected to my network. This has taken so far in excess of half an hour!!!
Summary: Screen problem, then web cam problem, battery dead - does not stand longer than 5 mins without being plugged in. Better than the original. Feel like i've been robbed by Acer. Sent to Acer twice and the they fixed it after pestering them for a long time. I do not recommend Acer laptop or any Acer product and will never buy one again.
Summary: I bought an Acer Aspire 5920 for home use in January 2009, just for internet browsing, banking and uploading and storing photos. I made my choice of this lap-top based in part on it being the best seller at the time with a 5 star rating. However this has proved to be a complete and utter folly as just after the 12 month mark of ownership the screen began flickering, I have since learned that this is a very common problem with this make.
Summary: I bought this laptop back in April 2009 and within 2 months had problems with the screen. Within 6 months the battery had completely died, even though it had only moderate useage. Unfortunately I had to keephold of the laptop as I was dependant on it for work and now have been told by the ACER call centre that although the laptop is warrantied for 12 months, the battery is only expected/warranted for 6 months; ami therefore expected to buy a new battery every 6 months?
Summary: 14 months later having purchased this laptop with its glowing reviews, either the hard-drive of the motherboard has failed. Acer stick by their 1 year warranty and refuse to accept that this is unusual. They say that if they wished to provide more than a 1 year warranty then they would do so. Consequently, remember that before you decide to spend your hard earned money on what looks like good value, that there is a significant risk you could end up spending much more.
