Don't waste your money

  • Summary: Unfortunately we have three of these things in our family. All three have been back to our local agent for various repairs. My biggest gripe is the time it takes for the things to boot up and the process speed. Very very very slooooooooooow. The wireless network is very poor, even with the router within half a meter I am now trying to reboot for the third time to try and get connected to my network. This has taken so far in excess of half an hour!!!

Disaster

  • Summary: Fairly short review about the laptop that will cut straight to the point. Despite its technical merits the hardware of the ACER 5920 has a serious fault, and this is an incessant flickering screen. You will attempt to carry out a simple task, whether it be a word document or browsing a website, but instead you are treated with a screen that suffers from PSE.
  • Pros: Great features and potential
  • Cons: Hardware is an absolute abomination.

Sub-standardrubbish

Gavin Nathanson, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this laptop back in April 2009 and within 2 months had problems with the screen. Within 6 months the battery had completely died, even though it had only moderate useage. Unfortunately I had to keephold of the laptop as I was dependant on it for work and now have been told by the ACER call centre that although the laptop is warrantied for 12 months, the battery is only expected/warranted for 6 months; ami therefore expected to buy a new battery every 6 months?

Warning concerning Acer products

M. C. Bacon "smokey", Amazon
30 November 2009
  • Summary: 14 months later having purchased this laptop with its glowing reviews, either the hard-drive of the motherboard has failed. Acer stick by their 1 year warranty and refuse to accept that this is unusual. They say that if they wished to provide more than a 1 year warranty then they would do so. Consequently, remember that before you decide to spend your hard earned money on what looks like good value, that there is a significant risk you could end up spending much more.
