Self destructed after 13 months

  • Summary: absolute junk, after 13 months of use- light use at that, the system started falling apart. the usb hub on the right side (2 ports) completely failed. had to buy a usb hub to plug into the remaining working port on the left. a week later, the computer decided that it would not power up unless it was plugged into a 110 power source. so much for being portable. now, the power jack has developed an internittent short in it making the screen flicker.

Don't go for the cheap Acer stuff

  • Summary: You have been warned. Stay away from Acer. You get what you pay for. I bought two Acer model 6930s unites for Christmas three years ago. Both units became unusable within 36 months, when the power supply component became detached from the mother board. When I call customer support I was told the units were out of warrantee and then they hung up on me. I will not be buying laptops form them again...

I was in love with this computer until it died...

  • Summary: Let me start by saying that I liked this computer as much as my MAC until it just died. I sent it back for repair (ACER support is great). What happened is that I could not turn the computer back on. They did warn me to back up my data before shipment but all the software I had was licensed for one installation, one computer, one time. The hard drive was defective so they replaced it and sent me a computer just like the one I got from the factory: no data, no software.

Nothing but problems in first 2 weeks of ownership!

  • Summary: I have had to contact Acer 3 times in two weeks regarding problems with this laptop. I had to do chat support because they CHARGE for phone support. It seems like the chat support is an automated responder too. The laptop shut down every time I unplugged it even when it had been charging for days. Their solution? I had to update BIOS when I -just- got the laptop. That should not be required within the first two weeks of ownership. Period.
