Excerpt: I purchased this laptop 3 months ago from Staples. Its a Acer Aspire 5741. When I walked into Staples I was planning on purchasing an HP, but the salesman quickly compared the two laptops and said that the Acer Aspire would leave the HP laptop in the dust and he was right! It was very easy set up. I quickly made this laptop my own by adding photos and movies. It was very easy to hook it up to my wireless router, within 20 minutes I was up and connected to the...
Excerpt: I'm a college student, so the Acer Aspire 5741Z-5433 fit perfectly in my budget. I purchased it at Staples on sale for under $400. Specs include Windows 7, an Intel Pentium processor P6000, Intel HD Graphics, 4 GB DDR3 memory, 320 GB HDD, DVD-Super Multi DL drive, wireless card 802.11, 6-cell Li-ion battery and a 15.6 " HD LED LCD. I love everything about this laptop, except for a few features (some which I have easily adapted). The screen is high-gloss, which I...
Excerpt: From all the experience my family and I have had with any ACER notebooks, they are terrible!!! The battery life is absolutely horrible! The laptop had to be plugged in everytime it was used,as it was being used, so it was never portable as a laptop is supposed to be. Slightly less than a year after we bought the laptop, it did not work at all. We tried to turn it on, and it did not turn on at all. We plugged it in and tried to turn it on, and the little battery light...
Summary: I comparison shopped for 60 days and lucked out when I saw this. It had all the features I was looking for at a good price. I had no experience with Acer but so far my expectations have been exceeded.
Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Great pricefeatures, Long Battery Life, Quality Display, Quiet, Solid fit and finish
Summary: I have been using my 5741 for three years with the same battery and the time has come to change it. This laptop is nice and performs well, but I suggest putting more ram into it. My pc came with preinstalled win7. Interestingly enough the HD graphics driver accelerator was not installed on it but I could manage downloading it from the net later to play Skyrim and Fifa Manager. The graphics is not the best, but in spite of the relatively small 2.13Ghz they run at least.
Summary: This laptop is simply awesome. It is fast, and is perfect for everyday use. In fact, there is only 1 flaw - the battery. The battery is simply awful, and keeps flashing alot. Other than that, its cool!
Acer5741G Excellent Laptop, no annoying features, matt finish.

Summary: I have now owned my Aspire 5741 for just over a year, and it has managed everything i have asked it too with ease. I am an undergraduate student so my demands on my laptop include heavy word processing and internet researching, and therefore good multitasking capabilities, good music and video playback, a strong wireless receiver for those times on campus when signal is fading, and the ability to play the odd computer game or two.
Pros: Media playback, CPU speed, price, display, large keyboard, multitasking
Cons: build quality may be sketchy, may be too big for many
Summary: My old laptop died and I had to buy a new one a short notice as I need a computer at home for work and home life. I found the Acer Aspire 5741 at under £500 and have been really please with it in the 6 months that I've had it. I use it for browsing the web, Email, MS Office, watching video - all the usual stuff. I've found it to be fast - I never have to wait while the rest of a video clip downloads - and really reliable.
Pros: Great price; good solid machine that works well
