Summary: This computer runs rather slower than I expected - certainly slower than the computer it replaced. I cannot find anything so far which indicates when the caps lock key is on, which is very irritating. I also had a lot of problems, initially, with cursor jump, and had to restore factory settings to cure this. Aren't there any pre-delivery checks? Overall, a disappointing purchase.

Excerpt: This has got to be the postman pat of laptops. Even though from the outside it's boring, not very vibrant it does the job needed if you are a non heavy user. For example for work and home use, it is nearly perfect. However if it is the main computer for a heavy duty business or if you enjoy gaming and using it for your main access for multimedia, i think this laptop is out of its depth. For one its graphics card is poor, and its intel chip is not the latest.
Excerpt: This was one of the first laptops available with a 17 inch screen. I bought this in 2003 for university as I thought I could also watch DVDs on it and store music. It was a bit on the heavy side but I only had one problem at the airport about it's weight of 11kg (after about 6 flights). I also played a lot of games so the 512 ram and 80GB hard drive were put to good use.
Pros: , big screen, almost full size keyboard, lots of storage
Excerpt: I bought a Acer Aspire 1703sc laptop computer in October 2003 and the LCD screen developed a problem in January 2004. I called Acer UK to arrange a pick up for repair. DHL picked up the computer in 19th of February 2004 and I received the computer back in 7th of March 2004. When I opened the box I was very surprised by the way they packed the computer.
Pros: fast, good for presentation
Cons: heavy, not a real laptop, poor repair service
Excerpt: When I first got this laptop I read all the documentation and noted a few things to my suprise, firstly for an expensive laptop the battery life is not spectacular, a measley 1.5 hours of normal use, also it takes ages to recharge - about 3.5 hours. The other thing i noticed was that despite being sold as a devastating businessman's laptop, designed for complex presentations etc. the bundled software leaves much to be desired.
Pros: quick, sleek and beautifully constructed screen
Cons: not the smallest or lightest around due to 17" screen
