Good laptop, but with care

JD, Amazon
19 May 2011
  • Summary: Me and my step sisters got 1 of these laptops each due to the constant need with school work. To say the least it is a good laptop, but it needs to be treaeted right. I am proberly the most computer friendly person in my house and it does show. when we got the laptops first i got windows 7 put on instead of vista as I find that vista can be a slow operating system. Also I set up a weekly defragmention and got a suitable anti virus.

Great Laptop

N. Tebbs "Nick T", Amazon
18 September 2010
  • Summary: Great laptop for the money, large HD and plenty of memory. I have loaded ALOT of programs, pictures etc onto mine and it still doesn't lack in performance. HD quality graphics and a keyboard that is better than most laptops. The only downside to this machine and also why I didn't give it the full 5 stars is that the battery can start to wear down after about 6 months.

Acer Aspire 5536

S. Sharma, Amazon
11 February 2010
  • Summary: I bought the Acer 5536 laptop just before Christmas 2009. It's the first laptop that I have bought and I was just looking for something that had the basics in terms of word processing and spreadsheets and would allow me to surf the net. What I wasn't expecting was to pay as little as under £400 (I notice the price has gone back up now) for a top spec laptop. I'm not a techno geek, but this lap does everything I want it to do ... and more ... and it does it damned fast!!

Award Winning, But Corners Cut

H. C. Merritt "henry3339", Amazon
27 December 2009
  • Summary: I bought this as a result of the "Best in Class" award in PC Pro Magazine: it won "Best Value Laptop". An old Toshiba had been knocked out of action and I needed a replacement. It's reasonably fast for the sort of mobile work I have to do, mostly WP and spreadsheets, occasionally presentations with PowerPoint. However, crammed though it is with games and "utilities" I will never use, a few corners have been cut.

Great spec for the price

W. G. Guthrie "Arlowood", Amazon
8 December 2009
  • Summary: Bought this as a Christmas present for my wife who has recently started making noises about wanting to do some web surfing ( more likely shopping). I liked the idea of the built in wireless card and also the webcam so that we could set up web chats with friends and family. The processor is pretty good with a decent amount of RAM and a really good hard disc. She is unlikely to graduate into serious gaming so the package on offer was perfectly adequate.
