Excerpt: "...advice, we opted for this Acer model. We bought it from Tesco online, it cost around £360 at the time, as I recall it was part of a special offer. It was a considerable upgrade at the time from anything we had at home, this lappy was running Windows 7 for a start... a few Windows versions ahead of our other computer.. My daughter got on really well with this lappy, but due to her course and funding etc.. she had another one and this Acer came ...
Pros: Well made, good quality - good product
Cons: I can't be sure if the fault was accidental or a fault in the product, but prefer to think not
Summary: Many hours of entertainment was had without any problems or malfunctions, however, just last week it failed to operate having worked perfectly the previous day, all attempts to revive it have failed.
Excerpt: "...of memory. I have an Acer laptop as my home laptop and getting this one from work, I couldn't complain, although not my favourite computer brand I did actually really like the design on this one. This model isn't brand new it has been out a few years but I have updated software on it and it still runs really well and I have used this long enough to really share my thoughts. ===APPEARANCE=== This laptop looks really elongated but it is actually just ...
Summary: I have one of these. It's pretty, powerful for the price and has a very nice screen. Mine came with Vista and a then-optional upgrade to Windows 7. Vista is appallingly slow - if that's what yours ships with, ditch it as soon as you can. I run 64-bit OpenSuSE 12.1 and 32-bit Windows 7 - the 64-bit linux really flies, although ATI's proprietary linux Catalyst driver is shockingly poor.
Summary: I've had this laptop since 2009. It's still going strong and is mostly in good condition, apart from the mouse pad, now I have never had any problems with it, it's decent, but the glossy paint that it's coated in has over time worn off to a blackish colour, just wear and tear I guess. The laptops 4GB of RAM still keeps it going strong and fast.
Pros: Wide screen, looks good, and is very fast.
Cons: Can get very hot, poor graphics card for gaming and keyboard
Summary: Like all ACERS the Aspire 5536 can easily loose keys and they snap at the base so are not easily fixable, you need a whole new keyboard fitting, though they aren't too expensive to buy. The keys are classed as user error so if you break one you won't be covered under warranty or guarantee and if buying from Currys/PC World don't even bother trying to claim for anything unless you've taken out their own warranty.
