Summary: After buying one of these and trying to get support I've learned that all of these have been bought up by resellers who get them cheaper and then repost them for a profit... not so bad unless you try to get support and find out that the system software AND hardware are only supported for the ORIGINAL OWNER!!!
Summary: trackpad: ZERO stars. looks, 4 stars. It booted up fast, 5 stars for that. the keyboard isn't as awesome as samsung or macs are but worked perfectly fine and is better than many others i've tried on pc laptops, so 4 stars there. overall specs for the price, 5 stars. It seems like a great little machine and for the bargain price of $479.00 with free shipping that i got it for through amazon i REALLY wanted to keep it. Set up was super fast & easy. totally painless.
Summary: I like Acer machines and this is my third after a notebook and a desktop. My only two problems with this one are first, that the price dropped $30 from when I bought it 2 days ago! I suspect because a different retailer filled the order than is shown here. Second, when I did a first use virus scan with AVG, All the Acer games that came with it were infected with something. I removed the games using the control panel. (Never play them anyway.
Summary: Pros: 1. CPU+RAM good enough to support day to day computing. I'm a software developer, and found this machine can even run Visual Studio 2010 smoothly, not super fast, but just okay to do some small medium size projects on it or just play with some demo codes while bored in an airport. 2. Portable. Combined with #1, this is much better to carry another big and heavy laptop with equal or just little bit more computing power. 3. Not expensive.
Summary: This is an okay laptop. But everytime i get online it lags bigtime to the point where i can't do facebook chat because when i type it just keeps lagging. it drives me crazy! it constantly goes into a non responsive mode when i go online. i've tried everything including getting rid of usless programs and not using other back ground programs...
Summary: This computer will not run Windows 7 SP1. The Intel HD Graphics requires an updated driver before SP1 will install. (See MS KB2498452.) While Intel has released generic drivers, Acer will not allow them to be installed (neither the zip nor exe nor manual installation will complete). Acer insists that only their OEM graphics driver can be installed, which is an obsolete version of the Intel driver -- one that is incompatible with SP1.
Summary: I've been using this machine for about two weeks. It's good, but it ain't great. I was expecting more performance from the i5 processor. I assume that the low clock speed could be part of that problem. It's not slow by any means, but it's certainly not the rocket that some say it is. An i3 with a high clock speed would probably run faster. That's one thing they saved on. The next negative would have to be the video card.
Summary: All together, the purchase with tax and shipping cost came out to be around $650. I bought this laptop solely for gaming and entertainment. I believe Acer is better than Dell, the specs are better, laptop does not feel entirely flimsy and breakable. I love the mesh exterior design. The appearance looks pleasing. The laptop did not come with lots of bloatware. Handles common applications such as web browsers, word, and other typical windows application well.
Summary: I just got this through the mail. It comes pre-loaded with software that bogs it down. It is SLOW lots of mouse freezes off the bat. I did a fresh install of windows and it remedied it a little, it is still slow but not as bad. If you are just wanting to browse the web, write email and use a messenger client then this notebook is ok for that so don't expect to get blazing speed out of it.
