It's a pretty good laptop. Mine has lasted well two years :)

Excerpt: Overall, the Acer Aspire 5520 is a pretty good laptop. Battery life leaves something to be desired, but otherwise it hasn't caused me any problems.I like the fact that it has an internet button... really comes in handy. Also, the scoll bar works better on this laptop than do the ones on many other laptops I've experienced. It wasn't very expensive (got mine for $400) and works just as well as other laptops twice the price.
Excerpt: This computer is absolute junk! We bought it because it was inexpensive but thank goodness we sprung for the extended warranty!!! The computer has had so many issues! The harddrive failed within 6 months. The geek squad said that it always fails in this computer and was designed to only last a few months. Well, it's now failed twice in less than 2 years. Beyond that, the mouse is ultra sensitive and causes your typing to jump and skip all over the place.
Excerpt: Sorry about the typo, it should be 'Aspire' but I didn't notice it until too late.We got this machine at a discount because Vista wouldn't boot. No problem, because the intent was to put linux on it and use it for a traveling machine. We tried a number of linux distributions including running from live CDs, ultimately settling on slackware -- the only one that would start and run reliably.
Excerpt: This was the first lap top I purchased, and foolishly bought it just because it was on sale. I have had so many problems with it...sometimes the keys stick..the hinge came loose, and then had to send it out to the acer company to get it fixed because the motherboard came loose from something. It took weeks to get it back..but a plus is when you call their company, they are very friendly, maybe that is just to make up for a worthless product.
Excerpt: This is the Acer 5520 laptop. This is a great computer for the cost. It has many of the standard computer features plus some bells and whistles. Included are webcam, Cd burner, built in speakers, nice and easy to use volume controls.A soft touch keyboard, This comes with Windows vista home pentium. The software is easy to use. It also comes with a 60 day trial of Microsoft Office 2007. Great color and graphics as well.
Excerpt: I have lived side by side with my Lappy for about 10 months now and I have loved every minute of it. (Yes, I am so happy with it I named the darn thing.) I use it anywhere from 8-12 hours out of the day because I work from home, go to school at home, and home school my children as well. Because of the Signal Up Wireless it has, I did not have to buy any kind of plug in for using my home wireless router.
Excerpt: I suppose its more a complaint against Vista than against the laptop , I just with it wasn’t on here because a pain in the arse. Overall, for the price I paid for this computer at the time I got it, I still think it was a good buy. Even so, for someone shopping for a lower end market laptop I’d check this one off your list. You’re bound to find better built, lighter and more efficient computers out there that don’t have moronic keyboard and mouse pad wiring/lay outs.
Excerpt: "...explorer its away again. Looks: The Acer has a very nice glass like exterior but when you upon it up it looks old and out dated. On the other hand it sits comfortably in your lap or on a desk. Also it has a good wrist support and nice feel to the keys. The mouse pad was responsive when I got the laptop originally but now it has some issues of freezing or randomly clicking on things at the most inappropriate times. Value for money: Overall I think ...
Pros: Still serves me proud after 3 + years, quick and simple to use .
