security locks work great and price is right

Lorraine B., Newegg
29 November 2013
  • Summary: Over great product for the price.
  • Pros: Have a master key for these locks works great. The price and quality are also good.
  • Cons: The size of lock and where it hangs off the laptop puts a little strain on the locking hole. No way to purchase just the replacement part that goes into the laptop sometime those get lost and we have to purchase complete lock set again.

Better than other lower cost options

Bryce N., Newegg
22 April 2013
  • Summary: The padlock is way too large for the application, making the total package awkward. Replacing the included padlock with a smaller model makes for a nice lock.
  • Pros: Can be cut off if needed, without damaging the laptop.
  • Cons: Can be cut off if needed, without damaging the laptop.

Worth the cost

TimLalo, TigerDirect.com
11 January 2012
  • Summary: Shopping around a little, I found this the best cost and quality balance. I needed it to use in the library. Very secure, my only complaint is the the connection to the laptop is sometimes hard to sqeeze shut and lock but that might just be my laptop.

Faulty Lock

Loren B., Newegg
21 February 2011
  • Pros: I bought lock for my daughter in college to secure her laptop. She opened package today, 2/21 but the key does not fit in lock therefore it's useless to her.
  • Cons: I'm a little disappointed because I bought products from Newegg before they worked. Can I still return this product or can an agent tell me how to get it to work?

Needed work to fit my machine

monkey, TigerDirect.com
18 January 2011
  • Summary: When I attached the locking device to my netbook (an Asus Eee PC 1001PX) I found that its hooks were big enough that they made the side seam on the computer pop open when I closed the device.

Better than a combination lock

Seattle, TigerDirect.com
18 October 2010
  • Summary: I got two of these, and they are awesome. Way better than those cheap combination locks. This one has a real padlock that uses a key, which you could replace with any similar sized padlock if you wanted. The real value is the little thing that you attach to the laptop.

Works OK

Alan D., Newegg
22 September 2010
  • Summary: Works fine if you're not afraid to clean a burr off the lock.
  • Pros: Cheap, key lock, simple design, long cable, should fit any type of security socket.
  • Cons: Had to 'persuade' the key into the lock with a hammer! There was a little burr left on the lock that should be cleared off by a wire brush at the factory. After the key was forced in once, it worked normally.

good enough

Michael M., Newegg
30 August 2010
  • Summary: I am using this to secure IMac's for a campus. The little swivel adapter is easily broken off or yanked out if you pull hard enough. But the cable easily loops through the hole in the back of the metal stand for the imac, and locks it into place.
  • Pros: It is a cable lock/theft deturrent
  • Cons: it is a thinner cable lock, and the little adapter thingy is easily broken
