Summary: I am here wondering why my charger was getting so hot and not charging my laptop. I've had my computer and charger 2 years now. I am experiencing the same thing 392 other 1 star review customers are experiencing.
Summary: The DC side of cord overheated at the base of the inverter and frayed away from it. This happened right after my warrantee ran out. Why in the world does apple not make this a standard DC plug? Then at least I could replace the cord instead of the entire assembly.
Summary: Yes, it sticks out and I prefer the old design that laid closer to the computer. However, it only gets knocked out if you actually bump the cord, it won't if you just move your computer around (and staying in the computer when bumped would be worse, because it could cause damage to the cord or...
Summary: When the MagSafe chargers are in good condition they are great and function perfectly fine. However, over time they fray so easily it's ridiculous. I had an older charger with an old MacBook Pro that miraculously lasted for six years without issue.
Summary: What is it exactly about Apple where they refuse to correct this known deficiency? Over the past eight years I have seen no less than five charger cords fray and stop working. It never gets better.
Summary: Please make better power cords or I have no choice but switch to your competitors, I am sure they will appreciate my business as I have owned many iPhones and iPads. Should I pick Samsung or lg.
Summary: I don't know why Apple can't leave well-enough alone. The older version of the MagSafe adapter was great. It had a low profile and sat very close to the body of the computer. This one sticks out 3cm from the side at 90 degrees. As a result, it catches on things and pulls out constantly.

Summary: Now on my third MacBook Pro retina 85w power supply in a three year old laptop. Same thing happened both times. The cord turned yellow at the magsafe connector end, and then became frayed virtually overnight. This occurred over normal use both times. Simply MBPr was plugged in and it failed.
