  • Excerpt: To get faster transfer to my computer, is sad that apple's new laptops remove Ethernet from the computer but this is the alternative, product is good.

Hey, it works!

  • Excerpt: Upon receipt of my 13" MacBook Pro with Retina Display, I was surprised to not find a Ethernet port on the side. This is due, of course to the slim, lightweight design of this laptop. With that, an accessory adaptor is required in one of the two Thunderbolt Ports to connect a hard Internet connection. It's a bit of a pain, but no matter. The light weight of the computer makes up for the slight inconvenience in this regard (and the Retina Display is incredible!).
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection

Fits Well Next to Other Connectors

  • Excerpt: Fits into the MacBook Pro Retina Thunderbolt port firmly. Ethernet cable hooks up tight. The length of the cord keeps the larger piece out of the way of other peripheral connections like USB connectors, USB sticks, MiniDisplay Port, other Thunderbolt peripheral connectors, and MagSafe power connector.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection

it's fine

  • Excerpt: It works; that's all that matters for an adapter. The cable is heavier-duty than the usual Apple power cables; I wish they'd make their regular power block cables this thick.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up

Quick and Reliable

  • Excerpt: I use this item with my Late 2013 MacBook Pro (Retina) running the latest OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 to connect to my home network since the Wi-Fi signal strength in my bedroom is horrible. I installed a new 5-port gigabit switch and ran some Cat 6A wiring through my walls to my bedroom. Ever since I plugged the adapter in I've had nothing but awesome experiences!
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection

Another adapter that works

As fast as advertised

  • Excerpt: I got this adapter as I needed a wired network interface for my Macbook Pro and did not want to use up a USB port. I tested this adapter and confirmed that it truly can support 1 Gbps data transfer rates, which is pretty awesome if you need those speeds. The only downside I can think of is that there is no Thunderbolt passthrough port on this adapter, which means that you cannot daisy chain other Thunderbolt devices to it.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection
  • Cons: No Daisy Chaining, No Passthrough Port

Works great, but why necessary?

Andrew, B&H Photo
18 December 2014
  • Excerpt: The device itself works great. It's easy and fast and unobtrusive. However, it's a shame that it's necessary for modern Macbooks, and the price (like many Apple products, specifically accessories) is tough to swallow.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection
  • Cons: Expensive, Unnecessary

Works. Should've been included.

  • Excerpt: It's a relatively expensive dongle to replace a port that I had built into my previous laptop. It works as described, but this is something that should've been built into the Mac or at the very least included in the box.If you use a home NAS, wireless is OK for casual use but isn't fast enough for serious data crunching. For that, you need either local drives or Gigabit Ethernet, and local drives don't cut it if you need truly reliable data storage.
