Summary: It's a KVM! A relatively cheap one at that. I don't expect great things from it and expect it to manage my 5 servers and two backup desktops and be able to toggle through them when and if I need to. The only thing I will say is that this does NOT come with cables and that you had better use the recommended cables with it. Tried using my TrendNet cables from the older 4 port model - did not work.
When it works, it's fine. Didn't work reliably for me.

Summary: I have had the Trendnet 8-port USB KVM switch for 6 months now. I have it mounted under my desk and use it to quickly switch my USB mouse and keyboard between 6 different computers. It usually works without any issues. However, it randomly disconnects my keyboard every few weeks or so. I have to disconnect and reconnect the keyboard’s USB cable into the Trendnet unit to get it to work again.
Worked perfectly straight out of the box, first time.

Summary: Works perfectly with Trendnet TK-CU06 cables on WinXP platform and USB/VGA connections. Had no problems switching between older and newer PCs with all connections for Keyboard/Mouse using USB, even though some of the PCs used PS/2 connectors primarily.
managed to get it working on 1 computer BUT..........

Summary: obviously I bought it to control multiple systems but I only have it hooked up to my main desktop. lack of time is the biggest issue on why other systems have not been connected. I should be doing that in the next 2 weeks. the major issue I have is the mouse connection/response is HORRIBLE. not just slower, I can't use it thru the device. it was jerking, barely responding, not responding correctly and finally got to the point I had to hook it into the computer directly.
Summary: Initially, I was disappointed, as the switch didn't work the fairly new USB cables from my other 4 port TRENDnet KVM switch, but I bit the bullet and purchased new cables and the device seems to function without issue. I would recommend this product...verify that have compatible cables.
Summary: I bought this pos because I had a four port mamma san KVM (that I bought for $30, including cables, at a computer show) and needed to work with more computers. The 4 port no name KVM would hose up every six months or so; turn it off and turn it on and every thing worked again. I am introducing a number of new computers to the office desktops. They are all from the same manufacturer (Dell) and are the same model and have the same amounts of memory.
Summary: This box works great straight out of the packaging! I did need to get new cables, so thanks to the reviewer that mentioned the cables. Apparently, with my old cables only the monitor would work, but not the keyboard and mouse; with the new cables everything is good. Also I am using a wired keyboard and mouse because on my 4-port wired worked better. Have not tried wireless, but wired works better than it did on my 4-port box.

Summary: It does not work well on older desktop computers. They don't even see it, even with the firmware update to the KVM switch. Newer ones seem to work OK with it, but I needed it to work with both.
Summary: I've been using this product heavily for 1 year. I work in an environment where I need to do heavy staging and setup of servers and workstations. After 1 year of use, I have around 4 broken ports, in which I can plug in the port to the server / desktop and while the KVM recognizes theres a device on the port, when I switch to the port, there is display, but in Windows / Linux, the USB is not recognized, thus I have no keyboard / mouse, only display.
