Summary: This KVM Switch works great and its easy to setup and came with all necessary cables. I plugged all the computer peripherals into switch, such as the monitor, USB Keyboard and Mouse, speakers, and microphone. Then plug all the cables into your two computers. Turn on your computers and you're done. Just press button #1 or #2, depending on which computer you want to use. My only complaint would be the how the cables connect to the switch.
Summary: I wasn't sure what to expect for such a low price. I was very pleasantly surprised. I didn't even bother to shut down the computers (as recommended) - just hooked it up and it worked like a charm. I especially like that it is powered by the USB to a computer. No additional power cords are needed. As others mentioned, since the cables come out of all four sides it does pose a minor nuisance but I hid it underneath the desk.
Summary: I'll admit. I was a little hesitant at first and here's why. I have a 22" monitor that I would like to share with my home desktop and my work laptop. The reason I was hesitant is because my work laptop uses Windows XP and my company is pretty strict in regards to what programs you can install on the laptop. I was also hesitant as I didn't know how the quality of the image would be on a 22" monitor. I am please to announce that this product just works!!
Summary: First time using a KVM switch. I needed it to rebuild a system and not have to connect/disconnect the monitor, keyboard and mouse to use my regular system (which I did too many times before using this!)so I could troubleshoot online in case of any problems. Worked right off the bat! Both Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 (rebuild) recognized and installed drivers. Using a corded Logitech keyboard and wireless Logitech mouse and no problems at all.
Summary: When our grandmothers told us "cheap is cheap", they had had experience with this device :-). Among other problems, it spontaneously changes from one machine to the other. Sometimes, you try to switch to one machine, and it switches back to the other. It doesn't always respond to the scroll-lock-scroll-lock commands. I'm not even going to bother listing the other complaints; there are a lot of them. Just trust me. Avoid.
Summary: This KVM switch works flawlessly with an XP desktop and a Mac laptop. However, hot key switching does not work on a Mac. Therefore, the unit must be kept on my desk within reach so I can use the buttons for switching. Given the impractically short cables it barely reaches the very back my desk and kept falling off. I was forced to mount it to the desk with double sided tape. Despite the short cables I think this was a great buy.
