Solid

  • Summary: I would recommend this switch to anyone. It is bad how it does not come with cables.
  • Pros: I picked it up at a city auction for 25 bucks with all the cables included. I love it It serves its purpose for me perfectly. I did notice that sometimes the picture quality on the monitor is not perfect but other then that its great. The screen problem everyone else is talking about I do not hav...

VERY POOR KVM !!!!

Anonymous, Newegg
28 April 2010
  • Summary: Absolutely disgusted with StarTech !!! Rating should be ZERO eggs.
  • Pros: Almost none
  • Cons: I've now had this unit for a few months and find that I cannot live with it. With 4 systems attached, you HAVE to start up each system separately or else that system will start up in basic VGA settings (640x480). This takes a ridiculous amount of unnecessary time. I contacted StarTech and was tol...

Updated review..

  • Summary: One of my LinksKey KVM switches failed and I needed a replacement quickly, so I selected this model. However, when I replace my other LinksKey KVM switch - it will NOT be with this StarTech model! Just too many hassles to make it appealing.
  • Pros: Well constructed. If you can live with the annoying drawbacks, it's somewhat of a good investment. It handles high resolution monitors well - well almost (see cons below).
  • Cons: The BIG CON!! is that if you are using high resolution monitors (1920x1080 Viewsonic in my case) you MUST start each system connected separately. If not the systems not selected will come up in VGA mode (640x480). Not always - but about half the time. Switching between systems has an annoying del...

Handles higher resoultion video

Anonymous, Newegg
24 December 2009
  • Summary: The unit seems to be well constructed, and the switching buttons have a much better feel to them then the two Linkskey KVM switches I now use.
  • Pros: My old Linkskey KVM's couldn't handle the newer 1920x1080x75hz resolution well and would produce poor on screen readability. But this Startech KVM unit provides excellent video results with no noticeable loss of video quality. I can't comment on the switchability between systems as the unit does ...
  • Cons: NO CABLES COME WITH THIS UNIT!!! As a bare minimum they should provide at least two and recommend purchasing additional. This KVM will be attached to four systems to replace the Linkskey units. When I opened the box I was very surprised to find no cables - even though I should have noted the pict...

Does a Good Job

  • Summary: We had a cheaper KVM and it kept losing it's connection to pc's if one of them restarted. The old one was just a bit "glitchy". This one just sits there and works. I like things that just plain work.
  • Pros: Seems solid. Works as expected. Keeps the connection with multiple servers even when restart occurs. Good construction.
  • Cons: None.
