Summary: The old Startech KVM, while still working, was designed for PS2 keyboards and mice. The modern HP computers would not recognize my USB Logitech wireless Trackman even with external DC connected. I had to use a second USB switch to route the Trackman to the computers. I suppose I might have been able to hotrod the KVM internally; maybe it's a question of better shielding perhaps, a floating ground, or supplying 5vdc directly to the PS2 jack feeding the USB adapter.
Summary: This switch seems to work very well with my older Macs, both of which run earlier versions of OSX (10.3 and 10.5). The only caveat that I can find is that the switch will not turn or power on either of my machines, yet will power off whichever one is displayed through the monitor. Odd, that, since one would expect that it should either be able to do both or neither.
Summary: Works great. Just plugged the computers and peripherals in and all worked from the get go. Even my printer flips between the two computers. Definitely worth it for my needs. I want to keep running some XP software on my old computer while the new computer is for browsing, etc. I can switch between the two computers seamlessly.
Great switch, worth the extra money over the cheaper plastic ones

Summary: Needed a good switch because of work changes and needing to put my office at home. I wanted to do remote desktop to control my work laptop with my desktop, but that won't work with my work's VPN. Friend told me about a KVM switch, so I started looking around. Sure, I could have got a cheaper one, but this one is built like a rock, all metal, solid construction. I'm surprised it doesn't cost more.
Summary: I have owned this for a month or so now, and I have not had a single glitch with it yet. The switch I used to own would make the screen flicker and so on, but nothing like that has happened with this product. It's a little more expensive, but now it actually works.
Summary: This has provided the space savings and reliability needed where multiple devices can share. As an IT Consultant I have used several types of KVM equipment and found this brand and type to be the best for my uses.
