Summary: No Documentation. The Keyboard and mouse do not work at all when connected to KVM. Looked on the internet seems to be a common issue. Solution is suppose to be change some items in my Bios. Just purchasea a new Asus A51 with I7 processor and Windows 8.1.
Works OK after some initial setup struggles - recommended for light use.

Summary: I bought this KVM Switch that I could continue using my home laptop computer (DELL XPS 17) and my work laptop computer (DELL Latitude E6430) using the same keyboard and two monitors that I had in my home office. The unit is metal, heavy, and apparently well built. I preferred not having additional cables as I had most of the cables I needed for the installation. There was one DVI cable adapter that I purchased from monoprice.
Summary: I have one VGA and one DVI monitor, both Samsung 24". The switch connects to a Macbook Pro and a Gateway Win 7 desktop machine. The Mac side works flawlessly with both monitors, and the switch toggles successfully between computers. However, when the VGA monitor is connected to the PC via the switch, the Samsung monitor is not recognized and the resolution drops to 1600 x 1200 using Generic Non-PnP monitor driver (it works fine @ 1920 x 1080 when monitor is connected...
This product was a big waste of money and a big waste of my time

Summary: This product has multiple serious problems. After trying to live with the problems for over 3 months I finally decided to rip it out and throw it away. I'll just have to live with two monitors and two keyboards on my desk. Here are the problems that I encountered: 1 - Often there are display lines that are partially displayed as random colors. Sometimes there are many such lines. 2 - Often there are individual pixels that twinkle from the right color to a random color.
Summary: I was skeptical of this unit after reading the somewhat lukewarm reviews on this site and others. However, I have had a fair bit of experience with KVMs (smaller Belkin and IOGear products all the way up to big fancy Avocent OSD models) and I'm generally pretty pleased with StarTech so I figured I'd take the plunge and I'm glad I did.
Summary: This product will do "a" job, not "the" job. I wanted to connect a PC with a DVI monitor with a Dell laptop which only has a VGA connection. I will cut to the chase; this KVM will ONLY allow connection between 2 DVI connections or 2 VGA connections. NOT a combination of one plus the other. This is not well documented at all anywhere in the item description or in the paperwork that came with it. I had to send it back.
Summary: I had to return the first unit because the DVI port did not work. The replacement has worked flawlessly. I would have given it 5 stars if the first unit had worked like it should have. As a word of caution, it wasn't clear until I got the unit that the DVI input and output cables have to be the same kind (DVI-I or DVI-D). Luckily, all my cables that I had bought were DVI-D.
Easy to use and set up - comes with all required cables!

Summary: I was very happy with how easy this was to setup and use. The box is small so it does not take up too much space on the desktop. Both computers I connected worked perfectly (monitors, keyboard, mouse and sound system!
Summary: Just got off the phone with technical support. I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse that combines the signals of the mouse and keyboard into one USB connector. This works fro a while but then the keyboard & mouse on one computer stop working. If I power down the unit, which indludes removing the USB cables since they transmit power, it will work for a while.
