Easy to setup for Dual Monitors...

Steven, Amazon
21 January 2015
  • Summary: The StarTech KVM works very well with my two computers, a desktop and a laptop, to view two monitors. It was very simple to install, the two monitors inputs to the "Console" connectors, and the two computer video outputs to the separate "PC" connectors - "PC1" and "PC2".

This is the dual monitor KVM to get

J. Nowlen, Amazon
9 November 2013
  • Summary: Unlike the StarTech model with the toggle switch between systems; this has a separate button for each. Transfer is faster, more complete with fewer transfer errors.

2nd times the charm

detector, Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: I had to return the first unit because the DVI port did not work. The replacement has worked flawlessly. I would have given it 5 stars if the first unit had worked like it should have.

not as advertised

Mark Action "boo-yah", Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: This product will do "a" job, not "the" job. I wanted to connect a PC with a DVI monitor with a Dell laptop which only has a VGA connection. I will cut to the chase; this KVM will ONLY allow connection between 2 DVI connections or 2 VGA connections. NOT a combination of one plus the other.

Easy to use and set up - comes with all required cables!

L. Figueroa "nyguerrillagirl", Amazon
19 March 2013
  • Summary: I was very happy with how easy this was to setup and use. The box is small so it does not take up too much space on the desktop. Both computers I connected worked perfectly (monitors, keyboard, mouse and sound system!)

No EDID support as stated

nathaniel c., Newegg
9 February 2011
  • Summary: Had to return the switch 2 month later - giving up that we would ever get it to work the way it is intended. Tech support of manufacturer is OK.
  • Pros: Price
  • Cons: If you have a Logitech mouse or a Microsoft keyboard the dedicated USB plug will NOT support the mouse or keyboard. Also, Windows 7 restarts each time its UI after switching with is unusable for lots of more sophisticated software. Again - No EDID support as stated in advertisement!!!

Does not support wireless keyboard/mouse

Todd Nash, Amazon
13 January 2011
  • Summary: Just got off the phone with technical support. I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse that combines the signals of the mouse and keyboard into one USB connector. This works fro a while but then the keyboard & mouse on one computer stop working.

DVI port doesn't display properly

Jeff L., Newegg
8 November 2010
  • Summary: sending it in for RMA.
  • Pros: The switch seems to work with the exception of the DVI port not working correctly.
  • Cons: I have tried several cables, long/short and I continue to get lines about every 5 millimeters on the screen of pixels jumping that I do not get when I go straight from computer to monitor.

Keyboard/ Mouse locking up USB power issue

Charles M., Newegg
16 September 2010
  • Summary: Some people are being told that they need to run both pc's at the same time to solve the issue. This combines the USB current provided by each PC. That is a foolish idea for home user. Your electricity bills will increase. Especially for /gaming PC platforms.
  • Pros: Dual/multi-port KVM switches are great if you are using basic, non-backlit, wired keyboards and mice.
  • Cons: Many folks using many different brands of KVM dual port/USB/DVI, are having problems. This is a USB device DC Current issue. USB ports are generally limited to supply 500 mA of current to each port. (approximations!!!) Newer Wireless backlit keyboards draw a lot of current. So do newer wireless m...

Happy with the product and Startech support

Anonymous, Newegg
23 May 2009
  • Summary: I've been happy with StarTech products. Though they are more expensive than their competition, the company seems to be on the right track: quality products and people.
  • Pros: Very versatile. Have having owned it for 10 months, I can say it is the best desktop KVM I've used. Excellent for use with notebook + desktop. Each has x1 Analog VGA and x1 DVI/HDMI. This is a revised review: 5 eggs now. StarTech support was easy to work with to resolve my issue (see earlier revi...
  • Cons: None, other than the initial unit I had didn't work after a few weeks. StarTech support handled the issue well.
