Summary: This is, hands down, the lowest quality electronic device--and maybe even the lowest quality product--that I've ever owned. I packed it up for return after using it for an hour. It just can't be made to work effectively if you need to use an OS like Windows because it treats the monitor switch like...
Summary: The StarTech KVM works very well with my two computers, a desktop and a laptop, to view two monitors. It was very simple to install, the two monitors inputs to the "Console" connectors, and the two computer video outputs to the separate "PC" connectors - "PC1" and "PC2".
Summary: This product will do "a" job, not "the" job. I wanted to connect a PC with a DVI monitor with a Dell laptop which only has a VGA connection. I will cut to the chase; this KVM will ONLY allow connection between 2 DVI connections or 2 VGA connections. NOT a combination of one plus the other.
Easy to use and set up - comes with all required cables!

Summary: I was very happy with how easy this was to setup and use. The box is small so it does not take up too much space on the desktop. Both computers I connected worked perfectly (monitors, keyboard, mouse and sound system!)
Summary: Had to return the switch 2 month later - giving up that we would ever get it to work the way it is intended. Tech support of manufacturer is OK.
Cons: If you have a Logitech mouse or a Microsoft keyboard the dedicated USB plug will NOT support the mouse or keyboard. Also, Windows 7 restarts each time its UI after switching with is unusable for lots of more sophisticated software. Again - No EDID support as stated in advertisement!!!
Summary: Just got off the phone with technical support. I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse that combines the signals of the mouse and keyboard into one USB connector. This works fro a while but then the keyboard & mouse on one computer stop working.
Summary: Some people are being told that they need to run both pc's at the same time to solve the issue. This combines the USB current provided by each PC. That is a foolish idea for home user. Your electricity bills will increase. Especially for /gaming PC platforms.
Pros: Dual/multi-port KVM switches are great if you are using basic, non-backlit, wired keyboards and mice.
Cons: Many folks using many different brands of KVM dual port/USB/DVI, are having problems. This is a USB device DC Current issue. USB ports are generally limited to supply 500 mA of current to each port. (approximations!!!) Newer Wireless backlit keyboards draw a lot of current. So do newer wireless m...
