Summary: 1 Easy to set up 2 Clearly packed, booklet that clearly illustrates the ports on the unit 3 Tech Support is -GREAT!!!!! easy to reach - reliable and smart and helpful 4 Screen resolution - same as before i had the box on the setup... 5 All my peripherals ( plus one huge mac display ) work on a Mac and a PC ! 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +5 = Happiness!!!! thank you StarTech !
Summary: I got the first one and customer support explained that the board was burned wrong (only port 1 worked), so I sent it back and received a 2nd one. The 2nd one, one of the PROPRIETARY dvi cables doesn't work.. Shotty product, you're taking your chances on this one if you choose to buy it..
Summary: I looked at several DVI KVM switches. I had a list of requirements, and I still blew it. This one comes with 4 foot cables, I was expecting 6 foot cables, and the cables are DVI-I. One of my computers is a laptop with a DVI-D connector, so I cannot use this switch unless there is a DVI-I to DVI-D connection converter, I haven't looked for one yet. The point is, make sure you know what cable type you need, because a DVI-I cable will not plug into a DVI-D connection.
Summary: Only port 1 would work and the device would not switch which renders this device useless. I also suspect that this device fried one of the inputs to a brand new View Sonic monitor, but I cant prove it. I suspect this because the port on the monitor worked before it attempted to use this KVM, but no longer functions.
Summary: It switches between the PC's without issue but my gripe is with the placement of the DVI connections which is very bad and awkward. It's not even remote control! So why configure them in such a way??? I bought it a while ago but until today I decided to hook it up. With the awkward configuration you have to think of creative ways for placing it around your desk; especially since the DVI cords aren't very long.
Summary: Reading the reviews for this product I thought the reviewers must be insane. Complaining that it only comes with DVI-I??? Well, it turns out that that's a bit more of a severe problem than they let on, and here's why: This device only comes with DVI-I cables, and they're not a standard DVI-I cables. One end is DVI-I, the other is DVI-I plus audio; i.e.
Summary: For the price, this works well enough for my uses. There are a couple gotchas though, that prevent it from getting 5 stars: - The connector layout is not well thought out; but this is not a major issue. - The included cables are DVI-I (and only 4 ft long), but you can use standard DVI-D cables in their place. Note that doing so will remove your ability to switch audio, as the audio cables from the computer are built into the DVI-I cables they provide.
Summary: I should have read the other reviews first. The item description did not specify that this required use of DVI-I. I had hoped to use this with my MacBook Pro and my Dell desktop. Neither the MacBook Pro nor my monitor supports DVI-I. If you are considering this unit, look at the ports on your computers and your monitor. Make sure you can use DVI-I on all of them. See [...] for examples of each type of DVI connector.
