It works!

Joel W., Newegg
12 June 2013
  • Pros: Price Compatible with the Belkin KVM cable sets I already had.
  • Cons: Did not see a way to chain together multiple units. Hot-key switching a little weird.

Buy Some Other KVM Switch

Anonymous, Newegg
7 January 2013
  • Summary: Lets just say that when I replace this unit, in an hour or so, with a new purchase from Newegg, it WILL NOT BE WITH AN IOGEAR KVM SWITCH. I love the fact it worked, and worked well for so long, but I absolutely hate the idiot hotkey sequence, and will be buying some other brand of KVM switch this...
  • Pros: It works, and it works well. I have owned this unit for 6 years now, and it is thankfully finally dying on me. I have cursed it every day of my life, but it would not die. The CONS are so serious that I WILL NOT BE REPLACING THIS UNIT WITH ANOTHER IOGEAR KVM SWITCH.
  • Cons: As my first review stated, the hotkey switching was developed by idi*ts. Having to enter 5 keystrokes with the last being the "Enter" key is beyond stupid. Over my 6 years of ownership I have cursed this KVM switch every single day after it shut down something I had just started on that machine w...

Excellent KVM

Ronald R., Newegg
17 October 2012
  • Summary: I would highly recommend this product to anyone at this price point It comes with cables! Also I do not understand the gender issues with the cables that people where talking about? No issues here?
  • Pros: This KVM is an excellent value, especially under $100.00 We have 3 of these in our shop, all of them work without issue This comes with cables!
  • Cons: Yes the hot keys are goofy but if you hit them in order instead of all at once, they work like a charm The enter key is a killer though, sometimes it does stop something accidentally on the screen

Works for all OSs

Marvin W., Newegg
25 September 2012
  • Summary: We had two 4-channel units, cascaded together. Which worked OK. You had to scroll through each computer to get to the one you wanted, and one input was used by the secondary KVM switch.
  • Pros: Unit handles Win2K, WinXP, and Win7 KVM protocols just fine. Direct switching is smooth from PC to PC. Nice little confirmation beep every time a channel button is pushed. Has worked on all screen resolutions tried so far. Unit runs cool, super low power consumption. Best of all it's 1 RU high wi...
  • Cons: Uses a Wall Wart power supply. It would be nice to put the supply in the chassis. Hooking up all the PCs is very tight, they could have spread out the connectors a bit to take advantage of the entire backplane. Blue power LED is way too bright, I used one of the little serial barcode stickers (wh...

IOGEAR MiniView GCS78 8-Port KVM Switch

jt04, Overstock
12 October 2011
  • Summary: Got this in and it worked out of the box. I purchased this because I have a 8 port KVM on my servers that use Sroll-Lock->Sroll-Lock number and I could not expand this without replacing it with a different more expensive model which would cost me three times the amount.

PERFECT!!

SpinelliCreations, Newegg
9 July 2010
  • Summary: I would absolutely buy again - I don't care that it's a few bucks more than other options, it works great and its exactly what I wanted.
  • Pros: I purchased this unit for a 4 server + 1 workstation rack assembly. I have 5 machines plugged in always, and one extra KVM cable hanging out the back of the rack for use when working on repair jobs or if I need a laptop plugged in, or whatever. This unit worked perfectly. It is internally powered...
  • Cons: The 'male' VGA plugs are a real bummer -- so I had to get 8 'female-to-female' 15 pin dsub inline adapters (because all my KVM cables have 'female' ends. Anyway - I'm not taking any eggs away... do you know why? Because there aren't many (if any - this is the only one I found) KVM switches out th...

the WORST kvm switch, ever.

Pete K., Newegg
16 March 2010
  • Summary: I can't imagine the guys at IOGear actually using this thing.
  • Pros: It has a metal case.
  • Cons: Stay away, you've been warned. Why make the keyboard combination Ctrl, Alt, Shift, 5, Enter if someone wants to switch to CPU 5? Why not make it Scroll, Scroll, 5? Really? No, really? I read the reviews before I purchased this KVM and thought, how bad could this combo be? The complainers must be ...
