Summary: This KVM switch was not at all what I was expecting. I am very dissatisfied with this product, and am unable to use it as when I hooked it up, I immediately got wavy lines across my monitor. I am going to return this product for a refund.
Pros: Easy to setup
Cons: Device produced wavy lines across monitor after installing
Summary: I need to look for a better KVM. This one doesn't cut it. I haven't reviewed the item completely so I don't know if it warned about this ahead of time. It may be my fault.
Pros: It works, somewhat
Cons: You cannot use a wireless mouse and keyboard combo that uses the same receiver for both the mouse and keyboard. If you plug the receiver into the mouse port on the KVM, the mouse works, but the hotkeys don't, so that isn't functional. If you plug the receiver into the keyboard USB port on the KVM, you have mouse capability, but the hotkeys to switch from computer to computer don't work. FYI.
Pros: Does what it's suppose to do. I have it hooked up between an XP computer and a Windows 7 computer. Purchased these specifically for the handling of Windows 7. Keyboard, mouse and sound work fine, no complaints there.
Cons: Since purchasing this back in Nov. of 2013 I'm having constant irritable frustrating problem of the screen going blank for a few seconds whether it's connected to the XP computer or Windows 7. I contacted support and followed their advice but, nothing they suggested corrected this problem. I really like the compact size of this unit and was hoping I could suggest this product to several of my business clients. But, I cannot.
Summary: Don't get me wrong, I think it's a neat idea, but a physical switch is far better than the onboard controllers linking with your mouse/keyboard to switch between machines.
Pros: Easy to set up.
Cons: There's no physical selection button, the documentation on IOGear's site is poor and it doesn't seem to work with a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard, even with the Sidewinder X4 drivers installed (which are garbage to begin with). I'll be buying a physical switch next time.
Cons: I am finding it picks up interference in the electrical line very easily. For instance, if any appliance is on, my screen flickers. Also- I keep having to reset one of the two computers- monitor resolution to the default. It keeps wanting to kick down to 1024x768. Doesn't allow for Microsoft wireless Mobile mouse 4000, but the Microsoft L2 Sculpt Comfort Keyboard V4S-00001 works fine. On a PC.
Summary: Nice KVM switch but it doesn't work with my CRT. It does work with LCD monitor. I didn't try the audio. Contacted IOGEAR Tech Support. They are friendly but seem to have limited knowledge of their products.
Summary: The screen going dark is enough for me too poorly rate this product. I would look for an alternative product.
Pros: It does switch between inputs consistently.
Cons: the Screen goes dark periodically for a couple of seconds and then returns. It must be sensing for the other input. This is very annoying. Second you must have a separate keyboard and mouse usb plug. You cannot use a shared keyboard/mouse usb cord or dongle, something must be plugged into the keyboard usb port or you cannot hit the scrlk key to switch,
Pros: My first IOGEAR GCS632U lasted 3 years and worked perfectly except for minor resolution issues. When it stopped working I bought another one. It does work, some of the time.
Cons: Although my new switch supports the exact computers as my last one, it cannot seem to function for more than a couple of hours before I lose the mouse and keyboard on Computer #2 (both are desktops with XP) Even when the mouse and keyboard work, the resolution on Computer #2 changes drastically each time the switch is operated. I actually sent my second one back due to problems indicated above, and this is my third. I have been in contact with IOGEAR and they cannot p...
