Not a reliable KVM switch

SamsungPlasmaFan, Bestbuy
14 September 2013
  • Summary: This KVM does not have a manual switch, so you have to rely on the keyboard hotkey combo to switch machines.
  • Pros: Simple setup
  • Cons: Often fails to work

User Review

Manx3, Walmart

  • Summary: Nice KVM switch but it doesn't work with my CRT. It does work with LCD monitor. I didn't try the audio. Contacted IOGEAR Tech Support. They are friendly but seem to have limited knowledge of their products.

Woks well

,, TigerDirect.com
4 August 2012
  • Summary: Did have to downgrade my mouse to a regular usb scroll but is exactly what I wanted from it. Offers keyboard key for switching rather than a remote connected to kvm which is a spacesaver to say the least. Would buy it again if needed.

Worked okay for awhile

MrDJ, Bestbuy
24 May 2011
  • Summary: This unit worked okay for awhile, then one day it just quit switching the audio and video between my two systems; however, the keyboard functionality...
  • Pros: Has audio functionality and the price was reasonable at the time
  • Cons: Durability, not compatible with all systems, has no printer port, and IOGEAR has a poor consumer support dept.

  • Summary: This requires <scroll lock> key to work. The instructions say you can remap it to the <ctrl> key but I was unable to get it to do that.

USB KVM doesn't work with laptop port replicator

Richard, Amazon
25 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought the product for use with my home desktop and my work laptop. I use a port replicator with the laptop and when I went to use the KVM, it woulld switch between PCs OK, the mouse would work but the keyboard would not. I contacted IOGEAR through their website and did get back an answer within 24 hours (forget trying to call, I went on death hold).

Not at all practical

AVANBEEK, TigerDirect.com
11 May 2010
  • Summary: I purchased the exact same model elsewhere. There are some pros. For starters, all the cables are built in so you don't have to buy them separately. Also, it can also connect the audio to that monitor or speaker system. That's about as far as it goes. The biggest problem that I have with it is that you have to do this very intricate combination to get it to go into hotkey mode. Once in hotkey mode, just double tapping scroll lock should get it to switch.

Not for gamers

paschwarz, PriceGrabber
1 January 2009
  • Summary: G11 logitech (one of the better gaming keyboards) looses power. Confirm connections, just seems to drop keyboard function. Perhaps keyboard needs more power than can be supplied through KVM.
  • Pros: Ease of use. Price reasonable.
  • Cons: Not for high end gaming keyboard.

Mouse click is not accurate

kuppas, PriceGrabber
15 February 2007
  • Summary: Just selecting a file trying to open it. Inside the IDE, I am not able to place the cursor in a particular position using the mouse and it always selects the entire line. It is very annoying and I never buy it again. If you are writing lot of coding then it will waste your time.
  • Pros: Automatically detects, Video resolution is good
  • Cons: Single click on the mouse sends double click. It is very annoying.
