  • Excerpt: This dual monitor two computer KVM is well built and the set-up instructions are clear. The switch functions without problem but the instructions are not quite what they should be. Firstly, the plugs marked for computer "A" really are those for computer "B" and vice versa!
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, This switch is a sturdy, Works without problem

Great Box

William C., Newegg
18 July 2011
  • Summary: Wish the DVI version of this box wasn't so pricey.
  • Pros: Bought 2 of these and they work as expected in an office environment doing RDP, etc. Couldn't be happier.
  • Cons: None so far.

  • Summary: As of this post New Egg does not list the supported OS by the device. IOGear support sucks. After contacting IOGear support and explaining my problem and checking 2 things the support person asked what OS I was running on, after support learned the OS they responded and I quote "We do not support...
  • Pros: Supports dual screens for both computers
  • Cons: Under Windows 7 regardless of the computer being viewed, the device will reset itself anywhere from 1-90 minutes. Some times after a reset some or all of the devices lockup or shut down forcing a system reboot and lose of work. On average I lose 1 hour per day due to the device resets, not includ...

Time-Saver Money-Saver

El Maguey, B&H Photo
6 October 2010
  • Excerpt: With this device there is no need to buy extra monitors or power down and switch cables when using two desktop computers. Simply push a button (or use the Hot Keys option) and you can toggle between boxes. Easy to set up and use and takes up very little space on my table.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Small

An elegant solution

Piccutter, B&H Photo
12 August 2010
  • Excerpt: I have been struggling with 3 mechanical switch boxes to bounce between my two dual monitor Macs. The video switches, after a few weeks, began to fail. The contacts became faulty and the monitors displayed incorrect colors or incorrect luma. I had to manipulate the switch to get a near decent image.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Reliable, Small

IOGear KVN GCS1742

Tim O., Newegg
21 May 2010
  • Summary: No heat problems here... I have it fully loaded with USB and it is stone cold. I'm not using the external power supply and never have (still in box), so maybe that is why I'm not having that problem.
  • Pros: 2 computers with dual monitors. Supports a mix Mac/PC environment well. No need for power supply as it pulls it from USB. Solid case... professional feel and look. I had this thing connected for over 2 years and love it. Having a real box to switch to is better than using VMWare/Paralles.
  • Cons: Sometimes when switching the mouse is lost. However the fix is easy... toggle back and forth and it comes back. Might actually be the computer(s) fault?

If you need it this is the way to go

  • Excerpt: It's expensive and it has issues with Windows 7, but if you're working with multiple displays this sure saves space and cash. It did not work with my speakers though and this is a real shortcoming if you ask me. They say it should work with any powered set of speakers, but only two.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up
  • Cons: Incompatible

  • Excerpt: I use two monitors so this enables me to switch seamlessly from my Mac, for photography, to my PC for 3d rendering. I didn't need to run 4 computers which this switch can do. However I couldn't a unit for just 2 computers. I had previously tried other solutions recommended, that had not worked.
  • Pros: Easily Expanded, Easy To Set Up, Fast, Reliable
  • Cons: Bit large for 2 computers

Not coming back to this model

Mike D., Newegg
19 January 2009
  • Summary: IOMEGA thinks that because it can save you from purchasing 3 extra monitors they can charge you a premium for this, not based on cost to make with modest profit. We all know we dont want 3 extra monitors just a switch lol...
  • Pros: dvi
  • Cons: Runs extremley hot as soon as plugged in.. I could fry a new egg on this thing. Overpriced.. Did'nt last a year before burnt out.. But little did I know its malfunction created major network problems in which cased made my DSL line to seem bad, 5000 calls to phone company and DSL provider went no...
