Summary: Tried to use the Belkin F1DF102U KVM switch to upgrade my PS/2 keyboard to USB keyboard. Computer systems are identical Compaq pentium 4 systems one running XP the other running Vista both with updated service packs using a Linksys PS/2 KVM switch with keyboard hot-key function. After installing the new KVM switch hardware on each computer the XP system began reinstalling the KVM hardware every time the computer was started or restarted, this process messed up the video...
Summary: This is a great product; I am very pleased as it has simplified my life with my need for running two different PC's with one monitor. I have had this product for over two weeks now. So far so good. I am able to access all my files on 'both' PC's and run peripherals without a problem. It was easy to install, no problem with being recognized by the computers. A NOTE about BELKIN: I have other products from this manufacturer and I am very satisfied with the products.
Summary: I couldn't take it any more so I bought an isogear kvm switch and it switches in about 4s, the button always works, and I've never had issues with the keyboard switching over.
Pros: It did perform its intended function.
Cons: Painfully slow to actually switch over, like on the order of 20s. The screen switched over in maybe ~10s and then it took another ~10s for the mouse to start working. The button to activate the switch only worked about two out of three times. Every one out of five times or so the keyboard didn't switch over.
Summary: After I connected to my two PC-s, it seemed that I have USB connectivity problem for my mouse and keyboard. Sometime after turning on my PC my mouse and keyboard did not work at all, than occasionally start working again after I disconnected then reconnected the USB connector. Than after one week my new PC wont start up at all. My new (ABIT IL9 Pro., motherboard died.
Summary: I bought this item to connect my two desktop computers with one set of LCD, keyboard and mouse. It is easy to install and works perfectly for my needs. The design is very cute, all my family members like it. My only complaint is that when you switch it to the other computer, it's a little bit slow to give control to the other machine. Also, it doesn't work when computer puts the LCD to standby mode.
Pros: w/ remote flip. Supports up to 2048x1536 resolution. Supports USB keyboard and mouse.
Cons: It doesn't work when monitor goes to standby.
Cons: Using kb/mouse you cannot switch away from PC that is shutting down or is down but CAN switch to it and get stuck there (INSANE) - this screwup alone should keep you from getting stuck with this white albatross; And, why is there a button? How does that save desk space? I don't need no stinkin' buttons!
Summary: Once everything is working, all is fine. Flip delay is tolerable. However, shutting down both systems seems to hose the USB connection on the unit requiring everything to be reseated. This was my second unit.
Pros: Looks nice, great idea to have the flip and not the entire component sitting on the desk.
Cons: Functionally inferior. Shutdown both computers and restarted both with neither getting mouse/kybrd. Had to disconnect flipper and USB connections before mouse/kybrd would work.
