  • Summary: Not such a great price after all. The price of all needed cables came up to about as much as the switch itself.

Low Quality Junk

clinton b., Newegg
21 June 2012
  • Summary: Purchased five of these to replace my ancient, PS/2 only, rock-solid Omvnilook KVM's. Spent a few days trying to get the daisy chain to work. After a week being bounced around with Belkin's tech support, I finally got someone who knew what was going on.
  • Pros: They will eventually work
  • Cons: Low build quality, no power switch, daisy chaining is problematic, low video quality

Daisy Chaining is difficult

Cisco I., Newegg
5 June 2012
  • Pros: Once you get the daisy chain configured configured they do function well in a lab environment.
  • Cons: After hours of trouble shooting attempting to get three of these to daisy chain and getting no keyboard or mouse on the second and third KVM, I found "Mike's" review on this page so I followed what Belkin's Tech support had told Mike to do, that is: I powered down all three KVMs, removed power fr...

Stopped working after 1 week.

Sean O., Newegg
4 December 2009
  • Summary: I am using this in a somewhat different setup. I have two windows boxes (Win7 64/WinXP 32) that each have their own usb mouse and their "own" monitor. I have one monitor with VGA input for one box and DVI for the other.
  • Pros: Worked for almost a week?
  • Cons: Stopped working completely now.

Stacking does not work

Michael J., Newegg
30 April 2009
  • Summary: Purchased the Belkins through another vendor because of job policy. If I had gone to Newegg in the first place, I would have seen the bad reviews and gotten something else. Live and learn...
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: When stacking two units, the mouse and keyboard are not recognized on the secondary unit. After 6 calls to Belkin and half a day of troubleshooting, including swapping the primary and secondary roles, swapping stacking cables and flashing the bios on both units, it still would not work. The final...

Unreliable

Anonymous, Newegg
24 October 2008
  • Summary: The unit does not support wide screen resolutions but that is not stated anywhere. In my studio layout, I found that anything over 1600 x 1200 caused all sorts of distortions on all of my monitors from Apple through Samsung (4 tested). I am forced to run at much lower resolutions.
  • Pros: Good layout, rack mounted, flexible and relatively compact cabling options.
  • Cons: Poor resolution support, locks up regularly with no front panel reset. Does not respond to keyboard switching commands depending on keyboard being used. Uses a custom serial cable for bios updates as opposed to a standard USB cable making it easy to misplace or loose and thereby loose your BIOS u...

Absolute garbage.

Michael S., Newegg
24 September 2008
  • Summary: Technical support is zero help, a distraction technique at best.
  • Pros: Daisy chaining, in theory
  • Cons: Daisy chaining in practice simply doesn't work. I have 2 identical models, the Belkin branded daisy-chain cable, and they simply will not connect. It will enumerate correctly and cycle through video on all connected servers, but on the 2nd bank the mouse/keyboard disappears. Switching back to the...

decent switch for the money

Anonymous, Newegg
27 August 2008
  • Summary: The switches for setting up daisy chain ID's are not intuitive. Seems like least sig. digit started in the middle or on the right (it's been a long time, and it has been working, so I haven't looked...). Once you get past the identification problems, it Just Works.
  • Pros: It's a decent switch. The daisy chaining is a great feature. I setup a server room with them -- pretty happy with it.
  • Cons: Waiting for real USB support, so I can use USB kbd, mouse with PS/2 servers.

Evaluate your needs carefully

Anonymous, Newegg
16 August 2008
  • Summary: NewEgg.Com shipping - FAST! Ordered on Friday afternoon, received Monday Afternoon. Thank you!
  • Pros: The concept of a KVM switch is great in reducing workspace needs.
  • Cons: Please note: This device works well with PS/2 servers using Belkin Dual Port PS/2 cables, but there is issues with PS/2 Console keyboard/mouse connectivity with USB only servers. While the Belkins support was decent to talk to, the out of the country support staff had little understanding of the ...

Stay away

Ron L., Newegg
20 May 2008
  • Pros: no
  • Cons: Stay away from Belkin. worst technical support ever. they ask same stupid questions 10 times. I'm trying to daisy-chain 2 kvms. i've been calling them 6 times and still they can't explain how to connect them. you talk to robots. horroble. I told to one representative to write down what i say and ...
