Good For The Price

Ryan F., Newegg
10 August 2010
  • Pros: For the price it serves it's purpose well, it allows you to share a monitor, ps2 port, and usb port between two machines, and thus far it has done that just fine for me.
  • Cons: None at this time.

User Review

Jiskco A., Newegg
28 May 2010
  • Pros: I used this to connect with my Mediasmart EX-470 Gen3 debug cable and my Lenovo laptop. It worked flawlessly on both system. I used Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 and Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 on a single USB connection. The keyboard PS2 port has no connection.
  • Cons: This has a problem with connecting a PS2 keyboard and USB mouse. Only 1 port is working. I think it has a conflict with the USB connection at least based on my experience with the EX-470 Gen3 debug cable.

User Review

Yohei S., Newegg

  • Pros: Inexpensive. Works.
  • Cons: No button or LED on the main unit, instead they are only on the wired remote. Also, hot key information is NOT printed on the main unit (only in the manual--who know how long I'll hold onto that).

Works ok but..

Chris D., Newegg
16 December 2009
  • Pros: The price was right, and it has all the USB/monitor ports that I need. The switch button is handy for switching back and forth between my desktop and laptop/docking station. The cabling was all long enough to reach everything in my relatively compact setup.
  • Cons: I started getting some suspicious blue-screens on my laptop once I installed the KVM switch. It would only happen when I logged out, so it wasn't entirely annoying, but something was causing errors when trying to release the USB ports when I log out. My solution is to just undock my laptop before...

Compatibility issues

Michael S., Newegg
11 October 2009
  • Summary: Seemed to work just fine on initial hookup; but eventually weird things began to happen. The attached keyboard kept going into some unwanted state of control/shift/capslock resulting in corruption of keypresses into the control-version (e.g. press C, actually enter control-C).
  • Pros: Easy setup with no need to buy additional cables
  • Cons: Performance/compatibility issues eventually arise

spaghetti factor goes up

Scott M., Newegg
16 May 2009
  • Summary: all this talk about spaghetti has made me hungry
  • Pros: does what it says on the package. i havent tried it outside my own neds, but my needs were fairly simple. as far as the Pros, i wouod say "easy setup".
  • Cons: as mentioned: spaghetti factor. if you can hide it or if wire mess behind the desk isnt an issue, then have at it.

Revisited

Lee T., Newegg
16 May 2009
  • Summary: It looks like I'll keep this now. I'll cancel my order for the another switch I was going to try. I give this 3 eggs as it doesn't work as advertised (with a USB hub).
  • Pros: I wanted to post an update of my every connecting/disconnecting KVM switch. After having bad dreams about it...yes, actual bad dreams, I revisited the switch this morning. As per the instructions, I connected my mouse to a USB hub and then USB hub to the switch (which the instructions indicate wi...
  • Cons: Works fine, just don't connect it to a USB hub. Instructions are pretty sparse, but enough to get going.

Think Twice

Lee T., Newegg
15 May 2009
  • Summary: Save your money. Spend a little more and hope for something better.
  • Pros: Easy to connect, loved the idea of the remote control switch.
  • Cons: HATE the auto scan function...no I DETEST the function. I connected this to two computers, one running Vista the other XP. The switch cycles back and forth, for the keyboard and mouse, every few seconds. When it switches the computer evidently sees a loss of the keyboard and mouse and constantly ...

Small, good, but doesn't work with wireless devices.

Doddy81, Amazon
24 February 2010
  • Summary: Good KVM switch, it works well with wired keyboards and mice, but has some problems with wireless ones, at least the Logitech keyboard + mouse bundles. I didn't try with the new Unifiying HID but I suppose it will not work.
