Summary: This is a very good product. I worked out the best settings by experimenting with eggs! If you want a soft boiled egg (this works with with my machine anyway), set the dial to the centre of the hollow egg illustration. It will also continue to cook any eggs you do not remove once the buzzer goes off due to the steam. Worth getting, worth experimenting with some eggs to find the best settings for yours.
Summary: Decent egg boiler. Not very well calibrated but if you play with settings you'll eventually get there. One star less because of buzzer is very loud, almost like fire alarm, and this unit does not switch off when your eggs are cooked. But then again I haven't seen a boiler that does.
Summary: The good news is that it is a nice looking unit but once put to use things go downhill fast. I am really disappointed. I purchased this because I thought the price indicated it was better quality than conventional egg boilers - it is not for at least 4 reasons. 1. Most egg boilers use a measured amount of water and sense when it has boiled dry at which point the buzzer sounds.
Summary: After many years of struggling with various egg boilers i have last got one that delivers the perfect soft boiled egg.In fact it works better than i expected and is a doddle to use.If you are looking for an egg boiler then this is the one.
Summary: This was bought as a present so it hasn't been used yet. Reading through the brief instructions suggests that this unit should be easy to operate and keep clean. The only issue I can foresee is that the plastic 'tabs' on the lid that are supposed to slot into recesses in the unit - to create a 'hinged lid' look a little delicate - I would have preferred a metal surround to the lid with a more secure metal tab to act as a hinge.
overall good product, but not good for piercing the eggs

Summary: nice design, perfect for my purposes, which is to cook hard-boiled eggs (have not tried to cook soft-boiled eggs yet), lid is a bit wobbly, the pin to pierce the eggs is not sharp enough, so I use another egg-piercer instead.
Summary: An efficient and very easy item to clean and keep clean. I saw many cheaper models of egg boilers on the market but chose the Severin in preference. I have not been disappointed and would recommend to anyone. A good buy for the modern kitchen.
