Was OK, for awhile!

Dale J., Newegg
12 March 2010
  • Summary: This is not a gaming keyboard and is not advertised as such by Saitek. Keyboard is not user friendly to multiple key presses at once. Please keep that in mind if you purchase. Saitek has no interest in customer service, nor in honoring warranties.
  • Pros: I bought this keyboard specifically so I could work in a darkened room and it workefd fine for that, for a while. Keys feel decent, works as expected in that regard. I still feel it was a good buy for the money spent. I would buy again except for.......
  • Cons: At the 9 month mark, half of the lights started to flicker on and off, then went out completely by the 10th month. Repeated emails over the last two months of the warranty period to Saitek have had no response.

Overhyped

MyTech #., Newegg
9 March 2010
  • Summary: It's probably in a landfill right now where it belongs. I never used the volume keys as I’ve made my own script for volume adjustment which was more responsive, accessible, and had a finer degree of adjustment. If I had the money, I would get the German-engineered Das Keyboard.
  • Pros: It was a major upgrade in terms of key response to the generic keyboard I was using. Layout is standard. The backspace key is large. Some older keyboards have the small backspace key I cannot stand. Impressions were initially good at around time of arrival but later not so good.
  • Cons: I bought this keyboard on July 2006. It died on January 2009. Therefore, it lasted 2 and half years. At first, some keys would output a different character on the monitor. Then days later, everything stopped working. I disliked the squishy space bar, but the other keys felt good. The illumination...

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
25 February 2010
  • Pros: Has all the expected keys.
  • Cons: Num Lock LED doesn't lit. I want to get a nice keyboard since I sit in front of the computer 12 hours a day. Besides the obvious defect, the key stroke of this keyboard feels stiff and maybe a bit sticky. There is no click.

Keep looking

Douglas E., Newegg
24 February 2010
  • Summary: Keep shopping
  • Pros: It makes letters and numbers appear on the screen.
  • Cons: The backlighting is uneven and many of the keys are hard to read, the whole point of my choosing this keyboard is that I thought it would be easy to see. It's actually worse than a unlit keyboard. Add to that the fact that paint on the keys WEARS OFF in a fairly short time, this keyboard qualifie...

Not the best

Raymond C., Newegg
15 February 2010
  • Summary: While I don't need the labeling on they keys because I know where they keys are without looking it still looks cheap.
  • Pros: Was great keyboard for awhile the blue lighting while not the best is nice for night time gaming sessions.
  • Cons: Cheap, after owning it for about 6 months the paint or whatever it is on the keys started to rub off of my main use keys(A,S,D,W) and now having owned it for a year I have several keys which cannot be even remotely recognized as to what they are.

Not a gaming KB

Randy O., Newegg
11 December 2009
  • Summary: This is a gaming keyboard and I spent $40 on something that my 6 year old stock microsoft keyboard has no problems with. I can't believe the tech guys at Saitek could miss something as simple as multiple key combinations. I am in the process of RMAing this thing.
  • Pros: Everything on the keyboard works, including all the buttons. It has a nice, smooth feel to it while remaining quiet. I definitely loved the feel of this Keyboard.
  • Cons: Everything was flowing smoothly with this keyboard until I actually started playing computer games (Counter Strike: Source). I noticed something strange was happening when I couldn't talk in ventrilo, move forward and switch my weapons. It turns out that the key combination of CAPS, W and E do no...

Keys Wear Out Quickly and Often

Ethan A. Winning "ewin64", Amazon
17 November 2007
  • Summary: When the keys started to blur on my Saitek 2 and I had replaced them twice, I thought that I'd go down a notch and get this keyboard. I DO like the idea of a backlit keyboard. However, I've had the same problem with this Saitek: see photo in gallery, and you'll see that the B, C, and U are becoming...

Erratic behavior

Francis L. Cunningham "ButchAZ", Amazon
7 April 2007
  • Summary: Always desired this keyboard and finally purchased it. Everything worked great, loved the lighted keyboard and soft touch keys. Unfortunately after awhile my system started responding erratically, after troubleshooting, I found that when I used another keyboard all of the problems went away!

Keyboard

Big Guy, Amazon
2 March 2006
  • Summary: After only one month, the lighting on the keyboard is failing. many keys do not light at all. Lighting is very uneven. One good feature is the sound control keys on the keyboard, but Iwould not buy this keyboard again as I wanted a keyboard to use in the dark.
