Quick Review

Kelly H., Newegg

  • Summary: For the price, buy this keyboard if you don't need the numpad. It's wonderful The taller keys will take some getting used to but, it's a minute adjustment.
  • Pros: Heavy, extremely durable design. I literally feel as if i could use this keyboard as a weapon and not worry about breaking it. The size is fantastic for a smaller working area. Even finish across the board. Minimalist appearance that goes a long way. Keys are clicky! <3
  • Cons: Can wake people up if they sleep to close due to the clickyness. Synapse 2.0 is worthless and the reason i'm knocking off an egg. It connected and disconnected the keyboard every other minute after proper driver updates and everything else i could manage to try. The second i uninstalled it, the keyboard worked like a charm.

Nice keyboard!

Zhong G., Newegg

  • Summary: I think its a really good mainly because its cheap. I wanted a mechanical keyboard to check out if I can play my games better. Its helped maybe a little bit, not as much as I thought it would.
  • Pros: This is my first time buying a mechanical keyboard so this is what I liked: - Great, cheap price - Portability, you can put it in a bag with your laptop and its not too heavy (I use this keyboard with my laptop) - Some keys light up like caps lock - Good feel
  • Cons: - A bit loud - I mis press some keys sometimes, maybe because I'm not used to the layout even after 2-3 months of using it

Great keyboard, but loud

Promit G., Newegg
9 October 2014
  • Pros: It's awesome. The ability to create custom Macros, as well as the price for such a well-built monitor, is truly amazing. The current price for this is a steal. The tactile feedback is really nice, and I don't have to press hard at all to type quickly, which is always a nice thing. Some other Razer keyboards have issues with keys having to be pressed too hard before registering, which is not present here.
  • Cons: It's loud. I live with other people and we share a workspace, and it can be rather irritating when I'm typing since the keys are rather loud. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely get the Razer Blackwidow Stealth Tournament edition instead, since it's 10 dollars cheaper and is quieter than this keyboard.

could have been better

Eugene K., Newegg
29 September 2014
  • Summary: For the price, you will not find better mechanical boards out there. This board is my 7th mech board, and I know my boards.
  • Pros: the price obviously was the selling point for this keyboard. at $60, you just simply can't go wrong. not much changed from 2013, except the actual switches. These razer switch isn't MX Blues, but it isn't that bad. I wish these switches are more clicky and louder like MX Blues.
  • Cons: Bottom rubber stops are uneven and its wobbling. Razer switch suppose to be MX Blue copies, but it rather sounds more like MX Browns.

Cool looking noisy keyboard

RYUN B., Newegg
3 September 2014
  • Summary: I got into the hype of mechanical switches and at a certain point i'm wondering... why? I bought into these company's commercials thinking i'm going to be like my favorite gamer! Uh-uh. Not gonna happen. Those gamers are probably good with any keyboards out there unless it's broken. I didn't find much difference between this and my sidewinder x4 except it was much noiser.
  • Pros: 1. Looks like a quality item 2. Feels like a quality item 3. Box looks amazing to display 4. Responds well in games 5. Good size for small desk
  • Cons: 1. Very noisy, up to a point where people in the next room gets up to tell you to shut your door or go to sleep. 2. Don't see much of a difference between this and my old Sidewinder x4

Great keyboard, but not perfect

Kyle J., Newegg
21 August 2014
  • Summary: I realize the drivers do have an offline mode, but honestly I shouldn't have to sign up for some online service to properly use a keyboard of all things. I cannot fault it too much as it does its job well regardless and feels great to type on. However I will not purchase from Razer in the future if this is still an issue. Also, while the braided cords inspire confidence in their build, they can also be cumbersome and bulky.
  • Pros: - Keys feel great, excellent typing experience - Backlit - Not annoyingly loud like other clackity mechanical keyboards - Excellent build and materials - Braided cords reinforce build quality
  • Cons: - Backlight does not light up symbols! This ended up being much more annoying than I originally anticipated. - Macro buttons are useless if you opt out of their cloud-forced Synapse 2.0 driver nonsense - Drivers require an internet connection (this is not innovative, Razer)

  • Summary: We ordered online and had site to store pick up. Got the first one home and all of the lights wouldn't light up. The box also looked like it had been opened before and taped shut. Returned that one, and grabbed another off of the shelf and it works great. I have a happy gamer.

Initial Review

Matt D., Newegg
24 July 2014
  • Summary: Overall this is a nice keyboard. I've not been disappointed with Razor products yet. I would like to see backlighting on the different key functions. If my experience changes I'll be sure to update this review. Death Adder, Black Widow Ultimate Stealth 2014, Nostromo, and Krakken are the products I own.
  • Pros: The synapse interface for this is great. Easy to make/adjust gaming macros. I'm an mmo player and they are nice. The lighting is adjustable and can be set to be off when displays turn off. The feel of the keys is nice. It takes a lighter pressure than the non mechanical i was using. As for the "loud" reviews. I don't think its that bad. It's about what I would expect for mechanical keys. The USB/headphones pass through is a nice touch. My tower is fight beside me anyw...
  • Cons: It's not much of a con but the keys are slightly more close together than what I'm used to. The more I use it the easier it gets though. My only real complaint so far is one that others have noted. The function keys have their functions painted on and are not backlit. For instance the / key is backlit while the ? is not. Same goes for all your numeric functions and F buttons. That is the only reason I'm removing 1 egg

Not Very Stealthy

Jason S., Newegg
6 July 2014
  • Summary: This is my first mechanical keyboard so I can't compare the sound and functionality to others, but this is a lot louder then I expected. I'm still getting used to the keyboard after the having a Razer Lycosa for a few years.
  • Pros: *Worked out of the box. *Puts characters on the screen.
  • Cons: *This thing is a lot louder then I had expected.
