Good for desktop, bad for living room

Anonymous, Newegg
22 June 2012
  • Summary: It has a corded RF reception unit which is about 6 feet long. Even with it moved around to various points on the entertainment stand do I have range issues. Short of laying it out in the floor and posing a trip hazard, my only option is to shop around for something else.
  • Pros: Nice keyboard. Good button feel. Nice mouse, lots of buttons. Long battery life for both.
  • Cons: Short range. In my office this was a very good combo. I bought 3 of them over the years. Once I moved to a HTPC in the living room, it became apparent I would need to buy something else. The 10 feet the couch is from the tv really strains the range on the wireless set up. Sometimes the mouse is v...

Microsoft getting cheap

Eli Z., Newegg
18 November 2010
  • Pros: Good key and mouse. easy to setup on windows 7 working good near the receiver.
  • Cons: Price $40.00 and you do not get any batteries??? is it really cost that much to have 4 AA batteries so you can use it when you get it.

Meh~

Roy W., Newegg
14 July 2010
  • Summary: No scratches or dings in the units, looks pretty much new. The wireless usb reciever for these is friggin huge! If it wouldn't cut out and back in so much this keyboard would be awesome.
  • Pros: Nice features, ergonomic design is comfortable while typing or using the mouse. Different height adjustments is nice, well more than the usual up or down lol. Cushion pad for the wrists built in, not high quality but works. GUI for programming the KB and mouse is pretty straight forward and easy ...
  • Cons: Well like a lot of people have stated, the wireless range is horrid.... The mouse works just great, no issues with it so far. But the keyboard it self is the issue. Seems anywhere pushing three feet is too far for it. Bought this for a gaming rig and I play a MMORPG, so I need to be able to type ...

Decent layout, bad reception

Tim W., Newegg
4 June 2010
  • Summary: I only kept this set because I managed to find a placement for the receiver that worked with good performance: i.e. the receiver taped upside down above my keyboard tray as far from any other sources of interference as possible, and only 12" from my peripherals.
  • Pros: The mouse is comfortable for normal usage. The keyboard has a standard key layout, is contoured which I find more comfortable for typing (but not split which is a pain in the ash for games). It also has plenty of extra shortcut keys which can be useful. The shortcut keys work without a hitch in l...
  • Cons: As others have mentioned, the reception really sucks. The thumb buttons on the mouse are too high. The multimedia keys are not laid out as intuitively as they could be...

Interference Issue?

Vinay S., Newegg
14 May 2010
  • Summary: I have fairly high understanding of computers but this "x" issue has befuddled me. I have switched from Ni-Mh to lithium to standard AA's and nothing works. Different computers give the same problem.
  • Pros: Great feel, layout, and customization aplenty with provided software.
  • Cons: I have owned 3 of these units (work and home x2) and run into a funky problem - my work unit mouse refuses to work more than 6 inches away from base and my two home units have suffered a failure with the keyboard where when typing, "x" inserts itself repeatedly.

Good for the price

Joan W., Newegg
9 April 2010
  • Summary: Not bad for the price. I use the keyboard at home and the mouse at work (I found an extra transmitter). My old Logitec MX700 mouse is FAR better.
  • Pros: Nice natural shape of the keyboard. Soft quiet keys.
  • Cons: Range is only about 2 to 3 feet max. Mouse is cheap. The 3rd and 4th browsing buttons on the mouse seem like they are placed too high. Not good for gaming. Keys on the keyboard are inset too low so when I use the number pad my thumb always hits the padding.

Meh...

Bret G., Newegg
7 November 2009
  • Summary: I recommend this only to someone who is going to use the keyboard & mouse on a desktop within 3 feet of the receiver and is only going wireless for aesthetic reasons.
  • Pros: Good for detaching the keyboard & mouse from the media machine in the living room. Got tired of tripping over keyboard & mouse cords. Looks nice, good price.
  • Cons: The only thing missing is the ubiquitous BSOD. This mouse & keyboard set is extremely temperamental. The signal can be finicky even with in “line of site” with the mouse or keyboard dropping out at random. Range? What range? What's the point of having a cordless keyboard & mouse if the receiving ...

Poor Range

Patrick A., Newegg
19 October 2009
  • Pros: Nice layout. Great construction.
  • Cons: Poor Range (4ft). The shift key on mine missed at times. This got to be very frustrating.
