Horrible Space Bar
12 February 2013
Pros: Could be nice, except for the unusable space bar
Cons: Horrible space bar design. The actuation is poorly balanced and requires your thumb be placed directly over the center of the key. Even then it requires at least a couple pounds of force. Thanks Microsoft for wasting my time.
Summary: Compared to the other quiet keys, the space key (which is obviously used very frequently) is incredibly clacky. I've found this to be true on multiple MS natural 4000 keyboards in our IT dept. It's a design flaw, and makes the keyboard wholly unusable. I don't want to type on a typewriter all day, and that's what it sounds like.
Summary: I bought this June 14th & about 2 weeks ago I noticed the Enter & Space key stick. The space bar only works if you press in the center. And the funny thing is I never spilled anything on it. Last M/S Media Keyboard I had Myself & Kids spilled all kinds of drinks on it & No probs....Even after 3 years! And I'm using My Old Keyboard Now! Not Impressed!
Pros: Enter & Space key Stick after 2 months of normal Use!
Pros: I've had MANY of these keyboards, I would LOVE these to last longer than they do. The ergonomic design is amazing. It feels great, its the most comfortable keyboard I've ever used....now see the cons.
Cons: I've gone through about 5 of these, some will last a week, others have lasted month. The problem is the cord right after the keyboard always bends and break, I usually end up just soldering it back together, but I should not have to do this. This has happened so many times on every one of them I've finally stopped buying them.
Summary: My boss and I both purchased this keyboard about 5 months ago and I am already on here shopping for a new keyboard...I loved the design of this keyboard and have enjoyed using it, but some of the keys have quit working for no apparent reason...We popped the keys off to see if something had fallen under the key and to see if something had been spilt on it, but nothing was apparent...My boss has also had problems with hers..
Summary: The spacebar renders this keyboard unusable. It's clunky, it sticks, you have to really "thwack" it with your thumb to type a space. A shame, since the rest of the keyboard is fine: comfortable, good wrist support, excellent height. I'm not sure how the spacebar made it past quality testing. The obvious fix is to improve the design with a split (two piece) spacebar.
Summary: I ordered this keyboard through my company. They gave me some strange looks because they had to order a special one for me. I need it though to prevent strain on my fingers.
So anyways the company delivered it and when I started typing I noticed how much the space bar sticks. It makes a loud noise too when you hit it. I dont want to bug my company so hopefully I'll get used to it.
Microsoft is such a strange company.
