Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio (for iPad)
5 November 2012
Conclusion: If you don't mind paying a premium to go green, the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio for iPad offers an excellent typing experience in a package you'll never have to worry about keeping charged.
Excerpt: Solar Keyboard Folio is pretty plain looking from the outside, with the exception of the solar cells. The only openings in the black material are one for the iSight camera, and an array of 13 small holes for the speaker. Your iPad is held by a hard rubber frame, which is molded to the curves of the tablet with tight cutouts for the ports and buttons, and there are two small feet at the left corners.
Conclusion: If you need a decent folio-style case and are planning to use the iPad as your sole computer for extended periods away from power sources, or just hate the idea of remembering to pack an extra cable, or just feel silly re-charging a case , this is by far the best (but perhaps also the most pricey) option on the market.
Pros: Never needs batteries ever, great key travel and feel, Good quality materials and smart on/off detection.
Cons: Solar cells face away from light during most usage scenarios, case not rigid, pricey.
Excerpt: Using the iPad's on-screen keyboard to write is a reasonable experience if you're writing in short bursts; but for longer documents you can't beat the touch and feel experience of a real keyboard. Using a bluetooth keyboard with the iPad has one obvious advantage: you regain the space on screen that would otherwise be used by the on-screen keyboard which can make it easier to visualise your complete document.
Pros: Keyboard good to work with; Solar-powered; Good protection
Cons: Typing angle less than ideal; Bulky; Quite heavy
