Summary: Not happy that the item arrived in a bright white color - got this to use in my living room with the black smart tv, black DVD player - the key board is bright white. The item is displayed on the site in black, expected to have matching black. Works ok but not for all parts of the smart tv.
Summary: I have had this K 400 for a year and I like it in so much as I am sold on never using a separate mouse again if I can help it. I do a lot of extensive writing and editing for work. So I appreciate the mouse buttons next to the track pad for selecting sections of text, etc. A HUGE problem, however, results form the tightly packed laptoppy keyboard layout.
Summary: This would be a great keyboard if not for the right-side Shift key being smaller than the left and a farther reach. If you are a "touch typist" not looking at the keyboard, you constantly hit the up arrow key and destroy the line above when your cursor jumps up instead of shifting the next keystroke. I am a very fast touch typist but cannot maintain speed because of having to look at the keyboard for every right-shift keystroke.
Summary: Nice little keyboard for $40. I find the touch pad a bit to sensitive for my tastes and there seems to be no way to get around this. The keyboard does not appear to the have an auto OFF feature. You need to physically need to turn it off (switch on top of keyboard) or keep a pair of charged batteries on hand at all times. Other than that it has long range connectivity, I've gone at least 20 feet and it still has a connection.
Pros: small, good connectivity, takes AA batteries
Excerpt: I brought this to use in front of my big monitor that is hooked up to my laptop computor. The keyboard woks well except for the right and left clicks which are too clumsy to use for digital editing.
Summary: This units small size and having the keyboard with integrated touch pad is a great idea. The installation was very easy. For what it is, this product works very well. Using the touch pad instead of a mouse took a few tries to get used to. A mouse is faster and more accurate. However, I like not having extra junk cluttering my space. Why the three stars? When I type, I use the right handed shift key a lot. On this model, the shift key is 1/2 the size of normal.
Summary: Really the K400 is the right form factor but the wrong build quality. It needs the backlit keys and key feel of the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. So, they got it half right and half cheap. The feel of the keys really kills the feel of the whole keyboard. Maybe they'll fix those deficiencies in the future with the above suggestions. Until then the K400 makes for a decent secondary wireless keyboard but I would not use it as your main one.
Summary: I bought this for my HTPC, having grown tired of getting up and down every time I wanted to pause a movie... or interact with the computer in anyway. The keyboard itself is pretty good, for the price it has the type of build quality you expect but it's perfectly acceptable. My gripe with this unit, is that if you sit on the couch and try to use it... you have to make sure the keyboard has a line of sight to the receiver on your computer.
