The Logitech diNovo Mini is a palm-sized wireless keyboard that was specifically designed to meet the needs of HTPC or media PC users. It measures 5.98 x 3.5 x 1.08 inches when its cover is closed and 5.98 x 6.0 x 2.55 inches when the cover is opened. With the battery and receiver, the mini-keyboard weighs approximately 6.17 ounces but weighs about 5.92 ounces without it. The diNovo Mini is powered by 960mAH-capacity Lithium Ion batteries that take about 4 hours to charge and can last up to 30 days. It also supports 10-minute fast charging for one day of use.
The mini-keyboard comes with a troy gloss silver with midnight black design and has 63 backlit keys. Its backlight changes color depending on the mode used. For touch-pad mode, the backlight is orange and for media-center remote mode, the backlight color is green. The diNovo Mini is also equipped with an ambient light sensor that measures available light. Whenever there is sufficient lighting, it automatically turns off the backlight to conserve power. The Logitech diNovo Mini has a keypad design that is meant to be thumb operated. It features a 0.98-inch clickpad that can be used either as a touch pad or a 4-way directional pad. It also features a dedicated Windows Media Center button.
The mini-keyboard is equipped with Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology as well as point-to-point technology. It has a wireless range of up to 33 feet.
The Logitech diNovo Mini is compatible with PCs equipped with Windows XP or Windows Vista. It is also compatible with the Sony Playstation 3.
I'm currently stuck in a cheapo apartment lease where they only offer proprietary cable and internet services, which means no HD for me. Leave it to Logitech to devise a keyboard none of us knew we wanted, but now can’t live without it. We’ve never liked having a big keyboard in our living room for our HTPC, and the diNovo Mini is very close to the perfect solution to this problem. Though the touchpad is a bit difficult to get used to, the rest of the device is a joy to use and is supremely comfortable and easy to use. The transition from the office to the living room has been a tough one for keyboards. Despite their media-centric shortcut keys and playback control buttons, full-size desktop keyboards make poor couch companions for entertainment-PC users who do little typing beyond the odd instant message or keyword search. Hands down the best keyboard for a media machine. It gets used every single day. When guests come over they are amazed how easy it is to use and operate. Between my Harmony remote and diNovo my media room is complete. If you have a media room and are tired of moving the keyboard and mouse around to have room then i suggest getting the diNovo. Since this is a human interface device, you can have it up and running within minutes of opening the box. Simply plug in the receiver to a USB port, sync them if necessary using the synchronize buttons within the devices, and voila, you're in business. Read more
