Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3000 Laser
3 July 2006
Summary: The heart of any Logitech product is always the software. This can be both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that you have a plethora of settings and customizability available to you and the downside is that you have to run a piece of software to do this. A quick look at the task manager shows that SetPoint takes about 15MB of memory, so it uses a fair bit to control and do everything that it needs to make your computing experience smooth.
Pros: Great quality and performance keyboard and mouse., Wireless connectivity has great response., Good range on both products - Mouse works over 15 feet from base - Keyboard works even farther., Can assign keystrokes and other functions to extra hotkeys, and buttons on mouse., Logitech quality.
Conclusion: If you are looking to upgrade both you keyboard and mouse in one foul swoop then this Logitech offering will certainly allow you to do that. The range on the device was ample for working away from the screen. Any further away and you wouldn't be able to see it. It's the keyboard where Logitech is gunning for success here and it shows. The mouse by comparison is fairly basic.
Pros: plenty of extra keys on the keyboard, good precision from the mouse
Cons: Mouse is light and cheap to the touch, keyboard has so many keys you probably won't use half of them
