problems

Brian H., Newegg
18 August 2013
  • Summary: Even with problems I've been getting, I would still recommend this keyboard to anybody.
  • Pros: This keyboard is amazing in it's functionality, and the back lite keys are a really nice addition. For anybody that uses macros frequently, the five macro keys, and free macro software is awesome. The two USB 2.0 ports (one on either side) are one of my favorite features, having the spare WASD ke...
  • Cons: I don't know if I just got a faulty keyboard, or if the software is just messing up, but the built in audio features (mainly the mute) keep going off every now and then, It's more of an annoyance than a major problem, so only 1 egg of for that.

It's alright

  • Summary: Not to still be going on about the backlighting, but the macro keys should be illuminated too. They can get confusing in the dark also. Overall this KB is pretty nice for what it is. Even though it's the 2nd revision, it still has some minor kinks to be worked out if you ask me.
  • Pros: Upon unwrapping and then opening the box, you can see this is a very well packed and protected product from Gigabyte. Which I have come to expect from this particular line of products. I own almost the entire Gigabyte accessory product line now with this nice new little addition. Well packed in f...
  • Cons: (FOR PEOPLE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO OTHER REVIEWERS) This is the K8100 V2, not the V1. The first version of this had red backlighting and a different media control interface. This one has blue backlighting and has the revised media control interface. Go to the manufacturer's website and research ...

Keys not the correct backlight color

Zhia, Amazon
6 February 2013
  • Summary: Just got this, and I have to say it feels great so far. Only complaint I have is that the keys DO NOT light up red, they light up blue, which is irritating because I got this with the assumption that they were red given the description. I got this to match the other red lights on my rig.

K8100 not for dual boot with linux.

Nicholas G., Newegg
24 October 2012
  • Summary: The linux issue may go away with time or a little research. I use M$ windows 85% of the time but when I boot into my linux distro it is such a pain to drag out the spare. BUT...as a keyboard, it will serve me well. 4 eggs.
  • Pros: Great for gaming and general typing. Love the backlighting. Excellent build quality.
  • Cons: Too big. The length from side to side is too long. The overall size of the bezel could be smaller without sacrificing quality. Won't work with my Ubuntu installation! Running dual boot and I need 2 keyboards. Ridiculous. :(

Nice!!!

26 October 2011
  • Summary: very nice keyboard love the weighted keys and backlight although backlight could be brighter.
  • Pros: comes with key cover, very quiet key movement, have up to 5 modes.
  • Cons: keys are hard to read unless you are directly over the keyboard. Volume control is not sensitive enough. takes MANY swipes to change the volume level on the computer...should be a simple fix if the would allow you to change sensitivity in the software.

The Ferrari of Gaming Keyboards

Anthony B., Newegg
27 July 2011
  • Summary: It's good, but not perfect. Regardless, they've manage to take the same mundane keyboard layout that everyone uses and make something with a unique appearance out of it. Look at any Ferrari or Lamborghini and the inspirations for this design are obvious.
  • Pros: Backlight with on-board switch. Anti-ghosting keys very quick and responsive. Touch volume controls. Programmable macro keys with software. On-board macro storage. Program them once. Stored forever. Eye-catching design.
  • Cons: Backlights are not very bright. You won't really see them in a lit room unless you are looking straight down at the keys. You only really need to see them in an unlit room anyways. Touch volume sensitivity is too low, not the sensitivity of the touch panel itself, I mean the sensitivity of volume...

good keyboard

stephen w., Newegg
31 March 2011
  • Pros: good key response. like the weighted keys..makes all your typing feel even. ofc i love the color. the silicone cover is really nice, its flexible enough to use all the time and really helps at keeping debris out. wrist rest is nice sized and the finish on the keyboard is self looks like glossy ca...
  • Cons: only 2 things and both are really not big deals...1 the cord is not very long so if your tower is not right beside you, u may have issues. and 2, although it is back lit, it could be a bit brighter. works great in dim to no light, but in a lit room you will not really notice the key lights. like ...

recommended

Joshua H., Newegg

  • Summary: id recommend this keyboard but i hope the manufacture changes the rubber cover to a clear rubber instead of this half way see through white. that would really help!!!
  • Pros: the cover is really handy and thoughtful and helps keep the keyboard clean. the volume control on it is kinda cool, but i think the sensitivity on it is really low, i have to spend 5 minutes turning down my volume. response time on this thing is fast when you push the keys it feels solid, and you...
  • Cons: the cover blocks your view of the keys, so you never know what your typing, and the i dont know if its me or not but it seems like the keys seem a little off, i always end up hitting hitting the wrong keys on this keyboard, and ive used computers for 10 plus years now.

  • Pros: I love the tactical feel on the keys and the fact that it comes with a silicon cover and extra wasd keys! also the visual response to changing the keyboard is a nice touch as well! I am very impressed with the build quality, and overall feel of hte keyboard!
  • Cons: If I had any input on improving it,m I would make the back-lighting just a tad bit brighter, also I wouldn't make the macro software not so dang flashy.... other than those two I have no complaints!
