Great Solid Keyboard

Kyle D., Newegg
2 July 2014
  • Summary: Great keyboard, wish it was back-lit but I knew what I was buying.
  • Pros: Love the blue switches Solid, heavy feel Thick rugged cord
  • Cons: One star off because I've only had this keyboard two weeks and I can already see slight fading on high-traffice keys. I type on this 8+ hours a day. We'll see how they hold up...

Awesome keyboard

Kevin R., Newegg
7 December 2013
  • Summary: only thing that sucks that i didnt really think that would matter is the letters/numbers lit up. I knew about this before i bought it though so thats shouldnt be a con also took 1 egg off because of the USB issue i had with it oh and also the keyboard shell is glossy so it gets dirty and smudgy...
  • Pros: Great mechanical keyboard awww yiss feels great to touch.. and type...mmmmmmm so smooth im typing on it right now and its like orgasms on my fingers.. ...oh and feels good to type on and game with too i guess.. definitely can feel the difference has USB port on the side for flash drive or somethi...
  • Cons: USB port on the side of the keyboard gets really hot after use doesnt light up(but they dont advertise it as such either) dont know if its just me, my PC, or the keyboard but i had my USB drive plugged in the USB on the keyboard and a while later my windows explorer started bugging out. never had...

great keyboard, questionable price

Georgette B., Newegg
19 February 2013
  • Summary: Overall its a good keyboard but i think that there were better options at the 120 dollars i paid
  • Pros: This is great keyboard. the keys look nice and it has a smart look. the keys give a satisfying click but its supposed to be quieter than other kinds of mech keyboards. I think its still kind of noisy but its not a big deal for me. I also comes with 2 usb ports on the right side of it. i have both...
  • Cons: there is no problem with the keyboard itself however I wounder if this was a smart buy. other keyboards go for less money and seem to have way more features. extra buttons, a screen, volume control, and sweet designs are some things I lost out on buy purchasing this. If I were to go back and reth...

Great keyboard

Andy Y., Newegg
24 November 2012
  • Summary: Using more for coding than gaming. Typing is much more satisfying typing on this. All of the "fn" keys are useless in PS/2 mode. Makes having that extra "fn" button uselessly taking up space near the left CTRL key. USB connectors would have done better on top or top near the cord.
  • Pros: Solid feel with rubber feet Great feeling keys Backslash key in the proper position.
  • Cons: Media function keys don't work in PS/2 mode. USB hub on left, interferes with mouse on right hand side.

Das is a solid mech kb!

yunus a., Newegg
15 September 2012
  • Summary: Word has it that the new Das with the media keys are not made by Costar, and that these are being phased out, so I'm glad I got one. I would highly recommend this board. I got it when there was a 15% off all keyboards promo on newegg and got it for a little over $90. Great price for a great board!
  • Pros: Das Keyboard is a solid keyboard. It's made by Costar, a Taiwanese company, and they make solid boards, i.e Filco, CM QF Rapid, WASD. It's easy to replace out all of the keycaps if you so desire. It's a preference, some people hate it, but I really like the glossy piano finish of the board. It ha...
  • Cons: The only con, which in my opinion is enough to dock an egg, is that the usb ports are on the side of the keyboard, not the back. If I plug in a usb cable, it sticks out to where my mouse is, that's not good. This is something that should have been considered before putting a board like this into ...

love this keyboard

Anonymous, Newegg
7 August 2012
  • Summary: Das Keyboard (the manufacturer) sells a Mac key set to change Alt to Option and Windows to Command, which I ordered and has arrived, but I am in no hurry to install them. This is a serious typing keyboard compared to the usual fare, and I am enjoying it mainly for this reason.
  • Pros: *Cherry MX Brown keys that have the responsiveness and sound I like *Solid keyboard construction *The thickness and tilt (when I raise the legs in the back) force me to clean up my bad typing habits -- the lazy drooped wrist I had adopted while using thinner Apple keyboards will not work with thi...
  • Cons: *I am a Mac user, and this is a Windows keyboard layout. (Certain key functions that are standard on a Mac like Eject and the audio controls are missing, and Windows, which is our Command, is in the 'wrong' place.)

They don't make things like they used to.

James F., Newegg
28 April 2012
  • Summary: Would I buy it again, going to have to wait and see what an Elite Keyboard looks like before I say anything. They did spare every expense to make maximum profit on this board. Can't anyone make a board even close to an IBM "M" keyboard or would it cost three hundred dollars to make.
  • Pros: It is a USB keyboard and if you have a new high end motherboard, you have no choice but to have a USB because the PS/2 plug is becoming obsolete. The key action is very light, this could increase ones speed a tiny bit. Might make a good door stop if it was a little bit heavier. Might be good to p...
  • Cons: They sure don't make things like they used to. I have been using three 1988 IBM "M" keyboards on all the computers here. There is nothing like an M class tactical keyboard. When I got a new motherboard without a PS/2 plug I screamed, then realized I have to get a new keyboard, but which one Elite...

First day - very pleased

Anonymous, Newegg
9 March 2012
  • Summary: For me the bottom "clack" sound is compensated by the nice typing feel and a heavy-duty, high-quality, durable feeling. Unlike some users, I like the glossy finish. It's not distracting like on a monitor, I couldn't care about fingerprints, and it's a nicer surface for the fingers.
  • Pros: Mechanical keyboards can have any of several different key types. The Cherry switches are unique - the action is much less clunky than that of the classic IBM Model M, for example. This Das Keyboard has the Cherry Blue switches. I have not tried the Brown or other Cherry. Here the actual switch a...
  • Cons: As mentioned, the key hitting bottom is the source of most of the noise. It is less agreeable than the switch sound. Also, the edge nearest the typist is relatively tall - say, from the desk surface to the top of the spacebar. And the keytops collectively make a slight concave shape from the near...

Good replacement for my IBM M

Anonymous, Newegg
29 January 2012
  • Summary: This board is worth investing.
  • Pros: Keyboard is just great. Key pressing is so smooth ... like knife in butter :) Even my 6 yr old nephew loves this keyboard !!
  • Cons: Board is heavy but keys are not firm as IBM M of my office ... keys feel wobbly. Just like many mentioned here .. for me too board itself is too glossy.
