Disappointing build quality and inconsistent performance
1 December 2013
Summary: Unit is nominally functional, but lacks precision in use due to its poor build quality. Also, I could not get all the buttons to work with the software as intended in Windows 7. I returned the item.
Summary: I will never buy anything from Adesso again. I had a touchpad that lasted me 10-15 years. I only got rid of it bc it was not compatible with my new computer. Shortly after purchase of the Adesso touchpad, its left button got a bit harder to click. Assuming it wld only get worse, I contacted the folks I'd bought it from. They said my brief warranty was over, and I had to deal with Adesso. Dealing with Adesso was awful. No one treated me like a human being.
Summary: Nothing more frustrating than installing software that comes with hardware that does not work. This Adesso Smart Cat touchpad came with Adesso software version 3.3. After installing the OEM software, the Glidepoint software would not open on Windows XP w/SP3. Went to Adesso's website and downloaded an installed version 3.8 and it works fine. After a few installs and uninstalls, the device seems to be working fine. Will chime back after using it for awhile.
Summary: We purchased this device hoping that we could program left/right mouse buttons on the bottum and Page Up/Page Down on the other two buttons to the left and right of the touchpad. Our goal was to be able to navigate PowerPoint via the additional two buttons. The device is advertised as a 4-button touchpad. However, after installing and talking to Adesso support, I discovered that the drivers only allow you to program 3 buttons.
