Summary: As a keypad, it functions just fine, and I like that it can switch over to a calculator with the tap of a key. And it is far better than tapping out numbers from the top row of the keyboard! However, - the retractable cable has to be handled carefully, or it doesn't retract correctly - the connector cord (the non-usb end of the cable) loosens from the keypad easily, just by use - the automatic shut-off time seems very short - it turns on again with a click, but its a bit...
Summary: As stated, the keypad would not work when I first opened it. Just FYI, there is a plastic strip on the battery to keep it from discharging. This, of course, needs to be removed for it to function. I removed it but the keypad would not work. Not being worth the time and money to return, I tried another battery and it works. This is why I didn't call it DOA. It was purchased to use with a laptop with out a Numeric Keypad and so far it seems to be working okay.
Summary: I would give this product 5 stars except for the fact the it stops working randomly for short periods of time. I got this calculator for my wife who is an accountant. She frequently uses a 10 key and a calculator for work, so this was a cool gift for her. She likes it a lot, since it basically combines two essential tools into one sleek device.
Summary: I like this, it does the job. However, if I was an accountant or someone who had to input a ton of numbers this would be annoying. Every time my computer sleeps it doesn't always recognize it after. Also, the toggling between the computer input and just regular calculator doesn't really work. It says it's on computer, but it's not showing up. I have ended up just using my Mac keyboard. Also, not very handy for a laptop. Maybe for a desktop for portability. It's just OK.
Summary: In spite of this product being advertised as a Windows accessory, it works flawlessly in Ubuntu. I was concerned that it might require NumLock or not work at all, but there are no issues to report. I rather like the idea of the auto shutoff to conserve battery power.
Summary: I love this! It is so nice to not have to pull up the calculator program on my computer when ever I need to calculate something. Just simply hit a button and bam you have a calculator! The only problem I have is that the whole thing turns off if it isn't in constant use. So you have to remember to turn it back on if it have been a while (about 5 minutes) since you last used it.
