Fed up with Stupidity "Fed up with Stupidity", Amazon
16 February 2011
Summary: I purchased the Russell Hobbs tea kettle with the separate tea infuser. After several months of use the white tea kettle is showing rusting around the inside bottom of the kettle, not good. Otherwise it has been pretty good. One time it got stuck boiling for a while and didn't shut off. The handle and tea kettle became very hot. Just have to watch this as is not safe.
Summary: I loved this product. For the first year, it was a gem. Then, suddenly, I started finding little white flecks in the water boiled in the kettle. Then more little white flecks. I realized the paint was coming off of the gasket seal at the bottom of the kettle. I called Russell Hobbs, thinking I had a defective set, and they told me to cut off the end of the plug and send it to them and they replaced the entire set. Should have been great. Until about a year later.
Summary: We were initially delighted with this purchase and particularly with the concept of keeping our tea warm. However, after only three months of use, the kettle no longer switches off properly and is leaking around the handle. We contacted the company handling warranty claims as the product has a three-year warranty. The three-year warranty is not worth much as we have been informed the product has been discontinued and therefore the kettle cannot be replaced.
Russell Hobbs Electric Kettle with Glass Carafe & Tea Tray
J. HOYT, Amazon
31 December 2010
Summary: This set is perfect in every way...fast boiling water to pour into carafe and then the kettle turns off, so no overheating. The carafe is large enough for several cups of yummy tea and the tray keeps this heated for as long as you want. Like I said...PERFECT!
Summary: Works great! Water comes to a boil quickly & auto shutoff. So nice not having to listen to a loud whistling noise first thing in the morning. Warmer tray is convenient especially when having company over. Easy to clean. Great investment!
Summary: This is one of the best investments I've made! It's so convenient and wonderful to use! Haven't had a problem with it and hope to keep it for a long time to come! No yucky plastic taste due to the glass carafe and the water boils in the kettle in no time! Also no yucky plastic taste in the kettle either! I highly suggest purchasing this product!
Summary: I used this product daily for two years before the teapot warmer stopped working. When I turned the warmer over it had disconnected from the surface and was burning through the base! Since it was out of warranty I tossed it and ordered a new one that didn't work at all. That's when I found out that this product is not being made anymore and they will neither fix nor replace it. Save your money and efforts because obviously they're unloading defective stock on the unwary.
Never throw out cold tea again - great office tea machine
16 November 2010
Summary: The presence of this machine on my desk is the best thing about getting to work. I drink a lot of tea. The hot water at my work comes from one of those red-handled little hot water taps protruding from the front of a coffee machine - it tastes a little funny (I drink my tea black so I taste the water) and just isn't hot enough for making proper black tea. My intention was to buy a kettle and a USB plate to keep my cup of tea warm . . . then I found this. Hallelujah!
Summary: I bought this over a year and a half ago, on sale. I was tired of coming home from work exhausted and only wanting a cup of tea to relax, then having to wait an age for the kettle to come up to boiling on the stove. This little kettle set does the trick! It brings the water to a boil very quickly. The auto shut-off feature is very nice in case you do happen to get distracted by something.
I forget the water is boiling when the phone rings
20 September 2010
Summary: I like the description, "High-tech teatime. This heated tray ensures tea that's fresh and easy-to-serve with a cordless kettle and carafe combination that keeps beverages at the perfect just-brewed temperature. Simply boil water in the electric kettle and create the perfect brew in the clear glass carafe." I have a home office and when I boil water on the stove and the phone rings, I sometimes forget to turn it off.
