Putting some questions to rest

Edward Arguello, Amazon
21 December 2014
  • Summary: I was a bit skeptical when I was deciding whether or not to buy this water boiler. Should I have purchased the much more expensive Zojirushi? Would I experience the black flakes or rusting that other people experienced? I decided to take a chance, since there were so many positive reviews for this unit. I've only had it for a couple of days, and absolutely love it.

Rusted inner lid

RandomWalker, Amazon
16 August 2014
  • Summary: We bought this Panasonic 2.3 qaurter water boiler in 2011 and after 3 years of use, its inner stainless lid has developed few rusted spots. Since the lid is in direct contact with the water, we have to throw away the boiler. It appears this kind of rusting inner stainless lid problem happens to other brand. The manufacturer should be aware of the problem and able to take care of it by using a better quality stainless lid instead a cheap and thinly coated one.

Was great for 2 years - now, the coating is starting to chip inside

Productive Procrastinator, Amazon
22 February 2014
  • Summary: Like the title says - this little guy was great for two years of frequent use. We use it daily, probably filling it up once a day, sometimes twice. We rinse/wash it (soft sponge, very little detergent, nothing abrasive) once a week or every other week, and use filtered water (britta) to fill it up.

black pieces starting chipping off the inside

Jie Liu, Amazon
19 February 2014
  • Summary: I have to say this item worked great for the first year or so. Two days ago, I found black pieces of what appeared to be paint in my mug as I dispensed some water for tea. I opened the pot and found many sheets of black coating substance that's fallen off the wall of the pot floating at the bottom. Needless to say, we stopped using it. Just hope we haven't ingested small quantities of this coating bit by bit over time...

An excellent Zojirushi replacement

Boethius "Potent Potentate", Amazon
20 September 2013
  • Summary: 1/2 price, works well. Good ergonomics. Water taste is unchanged. Easy to fill and clean. The designer who came up with the 6 hr timer is probably from another planet with a shorter night.

exceed my expectations

Lucas, Amazon
3 September 2013
  • Summary: i have a Zojirushi rice cooker and bought this Panasonic hot water dispenser to replace another Zojirushi one. the Panasonic is every bit as good as, or better than the Zojirushi but quite a bit cheaper. really like the energy saving function, so you can shut down the reheating function at night without unplug the cord.

Great for work

deegee, Amazon
23 August 2013
  • Summary: This thermo hot pot makes my life so much easier at work. It fits nicely on my desk and the hot water stays hot all day long. The only thing I don't like is that you have to unplug it to turn off... it doesn't have a shut off switch. It does unplug from the top, but still pointless too me. I would buy this product again though.

Love this hot pot!

Reagan, Amazon
7 January 2013
  • Summary: I read the negative reviews but ordered this hot water pot anyway. It is exactly what I wanted because I drink a lot of hot and iced tea. I had an old Mr Cofee tea maker and while it heated up ok, it got dirty and had to be cleaned regularly. It was also a pain because I drink four to six cups of tea a day and the Mr Coffee only had enough water for two cups. I was constantly refilling the water cylinder.

Uses it everyday

Miaka N. "Miaka", Amazon
31 December 2012
  • Summary: Very convenient. Also love the 6 hour time-out feature. This helps save electricity. We pause it every night before we go to bed and still have hot water as soon as we wake up because it auto re-boils after 6 hours. We are completely satisfied.

It does exactly what I wanted

CrankyToday, Amazon
20 December 2012
  • Summary: Some reviewers have complained that the pot boils the water and then allows it to cool to the chosen temperature. Well, that's exactly what a tea pot *should* do. Boiling gets the oxygen and chlorine out of the water so that they don't negate the anti-oxidants in the tea. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the temperature control isn't well calibrated. The actual water temperatures are a bit cooler than indicated.
