Great kettle, only one thing keeps it from 5 stars...

Summary: I love the styling, and it works FAST. We've had ours for 3 years, using it every day, and it still works great. The only complaint I have is that the external lever that you depress to turn it on, is only made of plastic, and when my mother came to visit, she pushed it too far and it broke off.
Summary: Just received this item so these are observations from first day of use. -Works nicely though a bit louder than our last kettle. Our four year old Melita started to leak, pretty good for a $20 kettle from Target. Hope to get a similar lifespan from this. - Measurement markings are not correct.
Why make the only moving part out of cheap plastic???

Summary: We've used this kettle every day several times a day. We drink a lot of tea and regularly use it to heat water to boiling faster than on the stove, like for pasta, etc. We only heated water in it. It is easy to clean. It is a well made kettle in all respects except one: the plastic on/off switch.
Summary: My wife bought one over 3 years ago when she moved here. She uses it every day, at least once a day if not more. Her original one still worked great, but started to develop some rust around the lid edge. We just replaced it with the same model, and it too works great.
Summary: The first one expired after 5 years. The base began melting. It still worked but obviously became a hazard. After much research it seems spending more money only buys more buttons to push with no real quality improvement, so I replaced it with the same model.
Summary: Have this kettle at home and a plastic sunbeam in the office. Each gets used an average of 5 times a day. Been reading reviews for lots of kettles today in order to replace the one in my office. My head hurts. I'm going with the product that's already working well for me (this one).
Summary: We used our Hamilton Beach kettle every day for about 6-7 years, usually multiple times each day. It served us very well until finally wearing out recently. We like the design and feel we definitely got our money's worth.
Summary: "You know I was loving this thing for the 9 months I got to use it. I needed it badly one night when we had no hot water and the kettle was DEAD as a doornail! What a WASTE of money! " That was my original review. For some reason it just would not work at home.
Summary: I'm surprised to read some of these reviews. We've had this kettle for 2 years, and it works as well as it did when we bought it. I think it looks great, is very easy to keep clean and looking new, and boils water like it's supposed to.
Summary: Nice product. Like the fact that you can remove the top to fill and empty it. Only little problem for me is that the on/off switch doesn't make much of a sound to know when it goes off. Otherwise good pot for the price.
