Summary: Only had it a week or so, finally boiled off the newly manufactured smell (a few days of boiling pots and tossing them out). I like it. It gives me the feeling like it might leak...but so far, it is doing fine. I wanted zero to near zero plastic, and I got as close as I could with this.
Summary: Second one we ordered, gave our older one to daughter. Reason we ordered a new one was because the metal bottom was heavily stained and using deposit removal did not work. We were hoping the new one would not have same problem but it is beginning to stain. Other than that, we love the pot.
Summary: My older kettle was a similar type, but all stainless steel, with a small level-indicating sightglass under the handle, making it difficult to see. The glass pitcher on the Breville is much more functional; it boils a full pitcher in minutes, is convenient to fill, and will be much easier to clean...
Summary: I absolutely love this kettle. The clean design makes it a delight to have on the counter. I make both Chemex and French Press coffee. This Breville Clear Kettle makes it fun to watch the water boil. It is also great for a quick cup of tea. I will be ordering one for my office.
Nice design but technically really not better than the (cheaper) all stainless version

Summary: Purchased this to replace a 3 yr old Breville SK500XL Stainless-Steel Electric Kettle that was getting tired. Design is nice, longer electric cord is also handy. Not impressed with lid..when lid button is pressed to open it takes forever for it to open...
Summary: This kettle looks nice on the counter and works quickly (just over 5 minutes to boil a full pot and just over 1 minute to boil enough water for a single cup of tea). It does have an auto turnoff and doesn't beep when it is finished so if you are someone who wants audible notice that the water is...
Summary: I've been really pleased with this kettle. I drink a number of cups of tea a day, and this kettle has stood up to that use for the past couple of months. No funky smell/taste to the water, and the light on the switch makes it easy to see when its on/off.
Summary: Once loved it but does not consistently auto turn off. Plastic top at spout falls out. I do like that it is one of the types with the least amount of plastic contact with heating elements. Maybe mine is a fluke. But sadly is safety issue that does not turn off consistently. Is a recent problem.
Summary: best glass electric kettle i've seen so far. It's hard to find a product that doesn't have that horrible chemical smell, but after boiling water in it once, the smell was gone. Just be careful to only fill it to the marked line, because when it boils it can boil over, making a dangerous mess.
Summary: Beautiful and functional electric kettle that adds a modern air to our kitchen and gets the job done. As other reviewers have mentioned, if you have a high mineral content in your water, some water spots may be left on the glass once it's done drying.
